I don't come off as a troll that's just what people I have a lot of disagreements like to say. Like Ive said I "jumped" in a few times but if you don't like it hey it is what it is. I'd just advise you to put me ignore if I annoy you that much but to be honest don't even think we are in enough threads for that to be a problem.

Now of course this was done with Columbia students as the subjects, so you could say it's not really representative of the country as a whole. But it does fall in line both with what the poster you quoted was saying and my own observations.

That's why I think it's because men like new and different things, and spreading their seed, whereas women are more likely to care about social and cultural connections. Like I want my babies to look like me, with darker skin and kinky hair. I want to teach them how their melanatedskin and eyes protect them so they love and have pride in their bodies

Even employers seem to prefer the lighter-skin blacks among us:

A 2006 University of Georgia study showed that employers prefer light-skinned black men to dark-skinned men, regardless of their qualifications. We found that a light-skinned black male can have only a Bachelor’s degree and typical work experience and still be preferred over a dark-skinned black male with an MBA and past managerial positions,” said Matthew S. Harrison in 2006, then a doctoral student in applied industrial organizational psychology at Georgia.

As far as black women basing their self esteem on others and not dating out. I feel it has to do with representation. Again you cannot effectively compare light men with dark women, instead you should try to see the female perspective.

There's nothing wrong with dating out. But I'm not going out pursuing men of other races, when I prefer men who look like me and gave the same cultural bond. There are enough black men who do like black women to go around I don't have to date out.

You have to also look at the fact that men general pursue, women aren't usua the pursuer.

I've seen that "study." These "studies" can easily be framed to damn near whatever outcome you want. I could easily say "Look at every movie, TV show, interracial porn film (lol), music video done by women.. all of those black males used are always dark skin. Therefore, from my study, dark boys are more likely to get ahead in life." And on that note, there aren't even enough light skin people around, let alone committing crimes, to form any reasonable study about prison sentences.

Also, I am trying to see the female perspective. But yall are trying to act like yall problem is unique to you and you only. Any time you try to say dark girls are at some disadvantage, I can easily put light skin dudes in the same place. Yes, women are not the pursuer but women are the ones who decide when sex happens. The fact most light girls are with dark boys isn't a coincidence. They both prefer each other, but only one of them is ever called a self-hater.

Well yeah, that's likely part of it.

I just don't think colorism is the reason why there's a disparity between black men and women when it comes to dating out. It looks like just one of those more general gender differences to me.
