Even with the Jack & Jill societies like the one I just posted, classism in the AA community is nothing compared to what exist in Latin America and the West Indies-
The reason being that regional AA cultures/communities were spread and cross pollinated(domestic slave trade/great migration). Also racial segregation did a lot to eliminate radical classism as well. The fact that no AA, poor and rich alike, was safe from even VIOLENT forms of racism(tulsa, rosewood, Slocum) by whites, poor and rich alike did a lot to blur the class lines within the AA community. Plus there was the one drop rule. These are all uniquely American phenomenons.
