Ant Man is what happens when cats don't hold a studio accountable for putting out trash:manny:

As far as the Guardians of the Galaxy comparison: the only similarity is that they're both IPs that nobody had heard about before. Premise-wise the two couldn't be anymore different. One is an ensemble cast going on an adventure taking place on a galactic scale and also has the main villain of the whole MCU making an appearance. The other is a nikka that controls ants:francis:I won't be surprised if this does numbers, but I won't be surprised if it flops. We're in Phase what, 3? People are now expecting bigger and better. They want each movie that comes out to at the very least keep the run of piff going if not be even more piff. I've never been one of those "Nobody I know is talking about it" people because it's a very flawed way of thinking, but from my perspective I see no hype for this:yeshrug:
Ant man is nothing like gotg , hank pym is a integral part of the marvel universe and founding avenger . He has countless stories , gotg in their present incarnation came about in 2008.
The current antman book starting Lang is great too
It's phase 2 also man so :camby: judging movies off of a characters name ?

The bolded is shyt you have to read comics to know. I say this all the time but I guess people's inability to view things objectively instead of through the lens of their personal experience stops them from listening: the average viewer, aka the people that make these movies blockbusters, doesn't give a solitary fukk about comic books. The next person you walk by, ask them if they know who Hank Pym is and report back here with the results. He's a founding Avenger?:ohhh:Then why wasn't he in The Avengers movie?:francis:Ant Man is nothing like Guardians of the Galaxy...thanks for agreeing with me breh:myman:And I got what phase of movies they're in wrong, who cares? Quote where I'm judging the movie by its name. All that stuff I typed and all of the reasons I put for why it might flop and you're somehow getting that I'm judging the movie by it's name?:dwillhuh:

:manny:Marvel made bank with a racc00n and a giant tree, they'll make money with an ant too. BTW, has anyone ever seen an Ant man comic before? Never in life have I seen or heard anyone mention him.
Lol real talk and I was big on comics back in the days...never seen a ant man joint

I don't like how people equate Marvel making a lot of money with Marvel making good movies:francis:. It's all about Stan base. Marvel can put out hot garbage and ppl would eat it up and hype it up to the sky (ala the avengers:umad:. Movie was average at best:manny:)
Half the mcu films are fetus juices.

Time will reveal the low quality hiding behind the hype.

Honestly @obarth i wasn't paying attention to the fact it was you :heh: I didn't read your post closely I just saw a bunch of posters making similar points and chose yours. Your right idk why marvel did it like this but it probably because Edgar wright acted like this was his passion project and then got so far Into production and left so they had to finish it :yeshrug: I just think that everyone should be open minded to antman though cause the character like aquaman isn't as stupid as he seems

Edit: fukking wright
Whedon: Of all the heat I've ever taken, not having Hank Pym was one of the bigger things. But the fact of the matter was, Edgar had him first and by virtue of what Edgar was doing, there was no way for me to use him in this. I also thought it was a bridge too far.

What's your problem with this ? They have a bunch of other heroes movies coming out but this apparently has a big part of setting up phase 3

Marvel has done fantastic over the last 9 years but they aren't invincable. Quality has been an issue even though Box office has been through the roof. The problem with "Ant-Man" is the movie just doesn't grab me. It just doesn't feel like this one is a home run. Marvel is fine with dumping it cause they are going to make a bazillion dollars from Ultron. But I won't be shocked if this underperforms like "Incredible Hulk" did. Which was Marvel 1st flop.

Why isn't this grabbing you ? To me if I wasn't a comic fan this would catch me more than say GOTG. It's almost iron man like in its feel

That's the thing, I am a comic fan. Born and Raised and it just looks lackluster. I don't know if it's the cast or just the movie. But something is like "Wait for video". Can't co-sign you about "Non-Comic Fans" being interested. Just look at the social media response and youtube views. It's clear Ant-man buzz is beyond lukewarm. The Average moviegoer I don't think view Ant-Man that highly amongst Superheros. What marvel should of done is Keep Hank creating Ultron instead of Tony therefor, "Age of Ultron" would of been Ant-Man intro then that would of gotten people ready for the solo movie.

What helped Guardians to me was it just looked different enough for me to give it a chance even though I wasn't sold on it either. Just cause "Marvel" is slapped on it doesn't mean it's an automatic buy for me. Thor 2 and Iron man 3 were both average to me. LOL @ someone in this thread calling it, "Honey I shrunk the kids for Adults". That's in interesting description but I wouldn't go that far as "Honey I shrunk the kids" is a Classic family movie. This probably will come and go. Will it make money? Probably but not much. It has way to much competition. "Minons" is going to body "Ant-man" at the box office.

It's all good my knicka:salute: If I hear great things about the movie I'll definitely give it a chance. But I think a lot of people might look at the premise and just not take it seriously. They would have been better off integrating him into the run up to the Avengers without a solo movie, have him create Ultron and then give him a solo once he had the exposure.

No I'm a comic fan and I loved the DNA GOTG cosmic stuff I'm just surprised that it was as successful as it was . I think it's cause James gunn executed his vision within marvels constraints which I would of thought . While I like the way antman looks and the cast ( it's like ironman looked to me ) I guess I can see that it isn't a spectacular or inventive trailer

I wish I could get a real idea why wright left . He went so hard for the project that they even left him out the avengers then to up and leave :patrice:
