Your right it didn't have to be in there but people are going to ask about it all the time just like demon in the bottle. Your being alittle harsh on a movie that no one has seen based off this trailer though , you have no idea how it ties into the larger marvel universe maybe they found a great way to tie it in. I was disappointed in the decision too and I'm a hank pym fan but once they cut him out the founding of the avengers I decided to ride It out .None of the wife slapping stuff had to be in the film/continuity breh. The material for a good Hank Pym and Janet film was all there instead we get a small-scale Scott Lang story that feels like it will be a one-off thing. They're now giving his(Pym) trademark storylines to other characters because of the direction of the film.
The Ant-Man movie should have been the perfect lead-in to what they're doing in the second Avengers movie not the other way around
Most people on here are just commenting on how stupid the idea of ant-man even is yet are clamoring for a black panther movie when I doubt most of them know anything about the corniness of the character back in the day . It's like falcon , as a kid I always liked him but let's be honest his weird backstory which now longer features his pimping and horrible garish costume/hair cut was turned into the wing suited sleeker movie version . The trailer showed me enough to give it a chance as tonewise it fits with the Mcu
the movie features flashbacks involving Howard stark and them so maybe he has some involvement that tony is unaware of

Pretty sure in MCU that Hank Pym is still responsible for the events of Avengers: AoU, hence the reason why he isn't the star of the film. (Because he's fukking crazy.)
I mean Janet's not even in the film, so obviously the movie is after the time Hank did that shyt to her.

Plus the Ultron story carries more weight with Pym. Probably why they're doing they're doing The Vision story which could have been saved for a followup.
I still think Iron Man would have had a role like with the cartoon from a few years ago, but robot's personality would stem Pym.
