I keep hearing this but these places are still ghosting candidates, requiring five+ years of experience for 'entry level' positions, and refusing to consider new graduates even if they have internship experience.

The problem is people keep ‘hearing’ it but how many are actually trying? And if you are trying is it only at big splashy tech companies or only in niches that you’re interested in?

I left a pretty big Silicon Valley ‘startup’ not too long ago and we had a lot of interns from Stanford and Duke and a few other schools so shyt is competitive regardless. But we also hired plenty of interns from ‘regular’ school students ps after graduation and retained a few part time just to be able to hold onto to them post grad.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
It’s true. Every engineer who comes in has 4 or 5 other offers. Every UX designer or product manager has 2 or 3 others.

Positions are staying open for weeks with most candidates being so severely under qualified (people with 0 experience who can barely string together a coherent sentence in any language) that they don’t even make it past the screening call.

I’m enrolled in this course right now on Google just for fun

I hear good things. Only complaint I’ve heard is that it’s “Googles way of doing UX” and they are heavy handed with design sprints. But there is no single way to do UX so ‘Googles way’ isn’t a bad thing. I have over a decade of experience and I might check it out.

There’s a lot of info on TheColi when it comes to careers, certs, stocks etc. There are hundreds of avenues to make passive income. The info is there, how you apply it is up to you. Yeah, I fukk around on TLR but I don’t when it comes to my money.
The cats that dont have the initiative to seek the info dont stand a chance in tech if we being real lol
