I am currently looking for another tech job rn, but should I be worried? It seems those companies that are doing layoffs from that article are companies that have been shyt the past few months, not recession related.
It depends on whether the business is recession proof. Some industries like housing have huge boom and bust cycles. And manufacturing is getting hit hard due to supply chain shortages.

I look at companies earnings, layoff announcements and job prospects before making a move. Also I can easily pack up and move across country if needed. So I'm not relegated to one specific area.

Now is one of those times where brothers who are trying to break into the industry will be given more grace than they might be in different times. If you're nervous or unsure about putting yourself out there, just do it.

:hubie:
This so fukkin easy to say. And I wanna do it, but that rejection is just:sadcam:

certain sectors in tech will be more resilient than others during a recession. Anything govt-related since govt will still have a budget to spend during a recession. healthcare, cybersecurity should also be resilient

startups probably not so much. anything housing related, nah

Startups getting hammered... Companies dependent on that VC money.

white companies wiII never :mjlol:

The recession in the midnineties.
was to usher the black savior out of corporate.
They already did it and acted like they never did it already tho.
Everything as a mantra anyone likes is from the era of black men dominating corporate america

I call Bullshyt

I've been closely monitoring the job market and trends for the last two years and trist me these companies have they're head completely up their asses with these expectations

hell I just had an interview today where these MF didnt even know what the fukk they were interviewing for. they came in Attempting to grill me with these fast rapid fire questions and expectations and I had to explain what the talent acquistion lady explained about the role.

all these senior level Microsoft MVP type cacs with vastly different expectation for what they are looking for in a candidate. One guy is looking for "migration to the cloud" the the 2nd guy is looking for a VMware Architect, and the other is talking all this Rest API shyt, when the role mentioned nothing about any of these things. I was contacted because they wanted to build a VDI(VMware) team from the ground up and were looking for level 2 guys who had experience in implementing solutions and doing daily support.

I originally applied for the company 3 weeks ago and they "Canceled" the position 2 days before my interview, only for them to turn around and reach back out to me for essentially the same position.

They dont seem to know what the fukk they are doing in the hiring process and they most likely will cancel the position again, fukk'em

That's been my experience at every single company. People in high level positions with no clue what their doing. Disorganized organizations with zero to little coordination or communication. Just a bunch of people hoping their white privilege saves them from being exposed. The only saving grace is you can make tons of money cleaning up the mess these clowns make.

Wonder how much of that is pressure from the higher ups expecting the world. I see it all the time though. Talking about hitting these ridiculous numbers that don't even make sense because that's what they told the board...then that shyt fails and they laying people off. Some bad "leaders" out there.

I think most of it boils down to not being able to properly grade success in IT. And everyone trying to rig the stats to look good rather than actually improving.

Didn’t pluralsight tell recently but a cloud guru?

And VMware hands on land is there an actual specific link for that or you were just speaking in general?

Hands-on Labs

Yes, Pluralsight bought out ACG, but they are not one in the same yet, they are still separate in terms of accounts and content. The acquisition happened around this time last year, and it will probably be a good while before any major infrastrucrue changes regarding the acquisition
