Why would the Empire cease to exist because a battle station was destroyed? Did the U.S. crumble after a president was assassinated?
Exactly that would make even less sense . The remenants of the empire would still exist . Did people want them to tell a completely different story with no ties to to the original trilogies but name it Star Wars ?? Even the EU stuff still touched on the same stuff super weapons , empire remenants etc

Stop with this criticism of a movie you didn't see , and assuming it's the same movie . There is nothing wrong with this movie having a familiar story .

Y'all won't ever let this series grow beyond Vader, The empire, death stars Stormtroopers, Ice Planets, deserts and Rebels goddamn :mjlol:

Yea it was mention a while back. That's why some believe fin might even be Han's kid.
The only thing to me is the timeline , is that wouldn't Han have had to get back with his wife after ROTJ and then have Finn like say 8 years after that movie . Isn't this 30 years After ROTJ

Grow into what ? It's a continuation of the story told in the previous 6 movies :dwillhuh: what did you expect to see in this movie ? You don't have to watch bro but your criticism sounds dumb man .

The Empire had a mind boggling large military, even with Vader and Sidious dead of course there would still be factions and infighting and warlords that the New Republic would have to spend several years dealing with. And the KOR seem to have revamped some of those remnants over the last 10+ years prior to TFA.

I need PRE-prequels with KOTOR :blessed:
I have a feeling that one likely route they make take after 2020 is to have a Kotor (or another era) Trilogy in between VII, VIII, IX; and X, XI, XII. In which case 10-12 would be late 2020's

You can easily continue the Episode/Skywalker arc running on and on, while slipping in alternate eras in between.

i fear the spin-offs might be too much though. rogue one sounds like a great idea but a young han movie!?!? :francis:

i'm all for original stories and exploring new facets of the galaxy but if we're just gonna get needless origin stories then i would rather not have them at all. star wars should be an event film, don't over saturate the market.

give my wallet a break.:lolbron:

Definitely, and they'll probably continue to do that with the Anthology films. But in terms of a main trilogy, we'll see if 10-12 is immediately after
