The facts say otherwise :ld:

And nothing is stopping the leading videogame publisher on the planet from doing the same thing gamepass is doing

LMAO at leading videogame publisher. You do realize they get 30% of EVERYTHING SOLD ON PSN and that's what makes them money.

So........this IS about Sony? We really walked all the way around the block to go down the street on this one.

Saying no one is successful without a market shift or gimmick is silly. The market can shift based on the products being offered. For example, the XBox 360 got off to a great start based on the quality of the games that could be found there when compared to what the PS3 came out the gate with. Where things started being a problem is that Microsoft struggled with growing their portfolio of exclusive games, while Sony managed to have some of the stuff they were throwing at the wall stick, allowing for them to mix it up a bit.

Changing the game from "we can make a better product than you" to "we can spend more money than you" is where people start to get concerned. That plays out in a lot of varieties of business, and in a lot of those cases, there's a shift where the customer ends up being effected.

It's why it's laughable seeing people toss around the idea that Microsoft buying these companies is somehow them being saved from being swallowed by Big Tech, as if that isn't Microsoft too. How the fukk are YOU gonna save someone from YOU?
This is about having companies compete for consumer attention and spending. Its about having one company do something and another matching or coming up with something better.

Saying the Xbox 360 got off to a great start? It launched a year before the PS3 and its lead over the PS3 never really grew beyond what it sold in that first year. It ended up being competitive mostly because Sony launched at such a high price that held them back but in the end it was still passed by the PS3. Lastly the Cell chip discouraged developers from messing with the PS3 like that.

Microsoft is proof point that just throwing around money doesn't buy lasting success. So yes the game still is we can make a better product than you. The best product is going to win out. People acting like anything else is true are wrong.

Not true
PSN revenue was 3.6 billion

Playstation made like 25 bill overall last year

You're not understanding. You think Microsoft sold more games last year than Activision Blizzard? Just like how Apple makes a killing off their app store, Sony does too,

He did a great job tapping into Sony Stan insecurity.

This actually came off as some roundabout ad for Gamepass. :heh:

No matter how hard y’all try to force some doom and gloom narrative, the ActiBlizzard acquisition is Ws all around. Biggest W for Gamepass users.

the thing about microsoft is they don't really have any real gamers behind the scenes. Phil Spencer pretends to be one by we know he's just a suit in a gamer tee. They don't have a big brain like Cerny calling the shots, that really know what they're talking about
I think phil is a gamer, the first real gamer to be put in charge of xbox.

He understands where Microsoft has been coming up short the past 3 generations. He just isnt about to spend the next 10 years building something that should have been built 10 years ago, especially when Microsoft has allocated $150 billion for instant results.

When that money becomes MS then we'll talk. Right now it's not. When it does they can potentially overtake Sony, but right now the top Gaming publishers are in order of revenue

Sony
Tencent
Nintendo
Microsoft
Netease
Activision Blizzard
EA

How'd that Rare purchase work out for Microsoft? Leadership will determine how this plays out not just buying companies. Them buying companies isn't going to automatically make a great product.

And people are merely stating that the idea of buying that better product instead of developing it can be a little concerning for some people, because it effectively reduces the rest of the field's ability to compete without doing the same, which we know ultimately, all but a few other companies can do on Microsoft's scale.

You still don't get it.. getting 30% of everything makes your pockets fat. Apple makes more money from gaming than everyone

This, nor does he have the time.

Even if Sony had pick of the litter than can't afford them all.

But tencent, Google, Amazon can

You keep equating Microsoft buying companies to some type of success by default. It's far from that. It's also up for debate that those companies they've bought lately are in decline in many ways.

Either way those companies were looking to be bought. If Microsoft didn't buy someone else would have.
