I wonder how many people that are dikkriding Microsoft for this purchase are the same ones that have eternal smoke for Amazon for effectively doing the same thing.

Regardless of who's doing the buying, this trend of consolidation had potential to end up as a net negative for the customer.
Sony sold 150 million PS2s Nintendo and Microsoft sold under 50 million consoles combined that generation. Where were these concerned for the industry people then? When one company was controlling 75% of the home console market nobody said shyt.

The concern isnt about the industry its about who dominates it. When Sony dominates and uses those advantages to engage in anti-consumer behavior and anti-competitive behavior flat out ignores the other companies in the field because they're so far ahead that's fine but if another company even sniffs the possibility of becoming more competitive it's a problem.

You know what happens when a company dominates the status quo for too long? Intel. AMD is eating their lunch now and Intel is scrambling to fix deficiencies they developed not having to really compete with anybody. Companies need real competition to stay on their grind.

By “poking a stick” you mean being better than them at making games? To the point where they needed to go out and buy games? OK…
The whole xbox brand being in awe of TLOU2 as if the game was sorcery told me all I needed to know. They threw in the towel awhile ago

U don’t wanna war with me @Gizmo_Duck im a neutral entity :mjlit:

People gotta stop trying to personify these multi billion dollar mega corporations. Especially if it’s not a tongue in cheek way. Microsoft as a whole is such a large conglomerate that them making big moves in any space right now is cause for alarm. They aren’t just another gaming company or software company they are a large entity that can easily devour any competition it has through sheer spending power.

It’s what the guy in the OP is insinuating, like walmart did back in the day to mom and pop shops or what amazon is doing now with all of brick and mortar. Thats why they are being reviewed by the FTC and why they are actually a looming threat not just in gaming but tech in general.

Theres no way to really know how severe the effects of massive consolidation will be in the long run. Microsoft said it themselves nintendo and sony can’t hurt gaming, only big tech can. Nintendo and sony have existed together since the mid 90’s and things have pretty much been the same for almost 30 years, now microsoft is changing trajectory with these big mergers.

I'm really not sure what you were trying to say with this post, breh. This started off with shytting on Sony as if they didn't spend the entire PS3 cycle and the beginning of the PS4 cycle trying to shed the perception of them being arrogant weirdos due to them being so dominant in the PS2 cycle, just to agree with my original point that the consumer wins when there's true competition, and that no one company should grow too powerful. You wanna try again, or are you just venting about what you don't like about Sony?

that’s why there shud always be rulings and regulations and the voice of the gamers themselves…big corporations will always make power moves but as long as we stand up for what’s right and never be afraid to question and let our voices be heard then they can never completely take over…keep doing what you do Giz :myman:
