Finished my first playthrough (Sonic alone). Didnt use any continues, only really died on a few of the bosses and maybe twice getting crushed by something. Overall I think the difficulty is fine if not a bit easy. If you played a true shytload of sonic as a kid you prob had a similar run that I had.

They weaved in enemies from all the diff sonic games, including the traps and spikes and all the shyt. When I saw the buzzsaws from Sonic 1 near the end game it made me :ohlawd:

I really liked the level design. More about platforming and skill then that 'gotta go fast' bullshyt. They put all the 'auto pilot fast' parts early in the game, and by late game it was more precise stuff and traps that I personally felt the OG trilogy is known for. I really liked the final stages in terms of testing your sonic knowledge.

I have minor complaints about level design, but not worth mentioning cause overall they did a great job.

BUT the bosses definitely left something to be desired. Lot of them didnt even have patterns, and a great majority of them you could just forget about what they are doing and just jump at them repeatedly....who cares if you get hit, just pick up a ring and keep spamming. Just nothing too memorable here in terms of design or how you fight them.

They were verrry lenient on how long the rings stay out when you get hit. That really made things easier.

Final boss was very underwhelming. Didnt get the emeralds so I dont know if there is another secret boss. If there is someone let me know.

Also the ending was wack and almost nonexistant
There is a 'true' final boss if you get all the emeralds but the ending is still wack as fukk regardless

Doing a knuckles run 4/5 on emeralds because a kid pushed my hand on the controller. Sad thing it seems like you can't get the emeralds fast enough. I just want to get them and continue to burn through the levels. I beat it with sonic without them then once I got them beat it again.
You can get all seven by the Chemical Plant Act 1. There's 5 in GHZ I know of and two in CPZ before you get midway through the level.

Correction - 5 in Green Hill should you play as Knuckles. Idk if you can get one of them playing as Sonic and Tails.

Even if... there's like three in Chemical Plant 1 and 6 all together.

I'm like 3 zones away from the end, really enjoy it but it can be Annoying especially when they have springs that push you into spikes and the like, I don't remember sonic actually being hard as a kid though.

^Yea I refunded this after playing for about an hour. Just couldn't bring myself to continue after a couple of stages. Just not feeling that type of game at this point in my life. My memories of Sonic games will stay back in the Genesis days.

Just got round to finishing this, and the OG Sonic trilogy are some of my favorite games, it has to be said... this game is pure ass. Pure fukking trash.

  • 12 zones for a 2017 game, fukking Sonic 3 and Knuckles had more.
  • Still only 3 playable characters after 23 years, GTFO.
  • Story made no fukking sense, fukk having to play the 3D games to understand the story.
  • Some zones have transitions, some don't, fukking rushed mess.
  • Music is garbage, there I said it. It all sounds too jazzy, funky, upbeat, all sounds like party music. Not a patch on classics.
  • Most of the zones are re-hash, fukking BS.
  • New zones are trash, crap design/music, and even borrows shyt from other levels, get some new shyt made up.
  • Special stages are those trash ones from Sonic CD.
  • Bonus stages are Blue Sphere? fukk outta here, what happened to the 4 different bonus things from 3+K?
  • Bosses were terrible, that Mean Bean Machine was outta place and too easy, and the HBH bosses were just terrible.
  • Hardly any replay value. Rayman Legends took a while to beat (over 120 levels), and had lots of replay value with collectibles, Crash has the crates and time trials, this game, nada.
  • Too much damn fan pandering, too much re-hashed shyt, hardly nothing new. Game plays like a glorified remaster, not a true Sonic 4 like so many were claiming.

So yeah, been waiting 23 years for a true sequel to some of my favorite games, and this is the shyt we get :mjcry:

I suppose it's all opinion, I played the OG Sonic 1 the other day and 45 minutes just flew by, tons of fun.

Tried playing this again and the long drawn out Green Hill was boring, then the stupid Sonic 2 final boss being thrown in for no reason, then Chemical Plant's shytty version 2.0, then that awful mean bean boss, then studiopolis which is a chore and that act 1 boss drags on way too long, then those God-awful bonus and special stages. shyt was turned off quicker than seeing the dude's face in porn :beli:

But if you liked it good for you, I wish I did though :to:
Death Egg robot being I Green Hill was a fun idea. It was dope. Like 99% of people were :gladbron: when they saw the mean bean boss. I agree Stuidopolis Act 1 bpss drags on too long. I think Blue Sphere are too long to be bonus stages even if I love those stages. The special stages were better than Sonic 1, 2 and CD. The overrated half pipe from 2 sucked dikk, this was much better
