I'm not saying tre does but cano should be the one to carry us . He needs to get better offensively cause the redsox/twins/bluejays aren't here to pad stats . Cano is held to a higher standard then swisher , grandy Martin tex etc

Well that is obvious. He bats .300 and hits 25+ HR's a year and close to 100 RBI's. And also plays gold golve caliber D in 2B.

small ball doesnt have a lot to do with the fact they just arent hitting small ball wont fix whats happening with Cano,Arod,Granderson and Swisher....

When you leave as many hitters on base as they do, to me it does.

Something as simple as trying to make contact to move runners over, hit the ball the other way ... instead of trying to hit homeruns every bat.

But really, I don't know the last time I saw a playoff team collectively slump this hard, and still advance a series.

They arent a small ball team,i dont know why ppl expect them to change NOW...
Secondly small ball puts the runners in scoring position it doesnt bring them in they still gonna need basehits which they arent getting to score those runs...

They had the bases loaded 3 times in game 1..they need hits to bring those runners on,small ball only gets you so far it doesnt circumvent these hitting slumps they are in....

Miggy's just as lackadaisical. He just happens to study A LOT of game tape (just like Manny).

Idk about that.

I remember watching an interview where Leyland said Miggy doesn't look at tape at all. If I can find it I'll link it.

Swisher was gonna be gone regardless. He was way out of NY's price range.

Granderson won't get an extension either. What they can do is move Gardner to CF temporarily afterward or get a stop gap til Mason Williams is ready.

Next season's spring training should involve way more open competition for spots because I don't see this team making any free agent splashes.

I agree with all of that. They would never do it, but i think they should dangle Cano as trade bait. Someone would give a decent haul for him.

He doesn't. That was an all-around ludicrous post. He busted his ass to get better at 3rd and he is a hitting genius.

I still like:

Cano
Jeter(though hes not gonna have another season like this)
Granderson

outside of that....

do y'all have any great prospects?

Y'all are talking about hitting.....but how do you feel about the pitching outside of Sabathia?

which would explain why he had conditioning issues up until the last couple of years :rudy:

He's just like Manny. The hitting comes so natural to him that it's not as if he did extra shyt. He didn't need to. He's hitting the same now as he did near the end of his time with the Marlins. The difference is that he's 235-240 compared to the 260 he used to weigh. When the Tigers got him he was doughy as a motherfukker.

Cano had what 2 good games in the 2 previous playoffs ? He flies under the radar but it seems like once teams key in on him he's finished hes not a real elite top 5 player like people say he is. He doesn't bring fear like miggy or prince , and im starting to think its his lackadaisical attitude .

I see miggy, prince even delmon young busting it out the box him he jogs like on that swinging bunt play .

His lack of giving any fukks is not a good look for a franchise player and the constant coddling of him. Oh he makes everything look so easy as a excuse for his mistakes is frustrating I'd trade cano for a High outfield prospect soon if he don't get it together

Tex is hiting and this guy blames him??? Huh

Go look ar the stats from the yankees series against detroit and texas, were gonna pretend cano didn't win game 1 for us and than went yard in game 5, while the murderers row of a-rod/tex/swish hit .111/.156/.211

He hit 4 HRs against Texas, that was just as many hits as our vaunted Murders row combined in that series.

That's their main man. That's who they wanna lock up going forward. Besides, the team doesn't have a wealth of players ready to take their places, at least not yet. Part of that has to do with guys like A-Rod, Jeter, Teixeira, etc all on long term deals (so what was the point of developing guys to block them). The other part was their insistence on developing pitching.

Yes. All Miggy cares about is winning. He never brought up the Triple Crown and when he was asked about it, he always steered the conversation back to the team and winning the pennant.

Doing the math tells us Detroit Tigers' Miguel Cabrera weighed 285-290 pounds last year | MLive.com

This is just asinine. His condition never affected his play and he has been the best hitter in baseball for quite a few years now.

You conveniently left out the part about Manny taking PEDs, something Miggy doesn't do.

Aside from not being able to play OF anymore, I never said it affected his play. I even said he's been the same hitter for years.

In Cano's situation, the only time it affected him negatively was in '08 where he simply wasn't trying and got benched for it. Cano now, he sucks at running the bases, but everything else is simply just how he's always played. Yankee fans only blow it up when he's struggling, and never when he's tearing the cover off the ball. That's been a theme. We still believe if you're struggling or if you didn't come through, you must react exactly like Paul O'Neill to reassure us that you care.

I agree Cano's always played the same, but when you appear lackadaisical, people are gonna shyt on you when you don't perform. I don't think he's been busting his ass down the line after his at-bats in this entire postseason. Perception is reality...
