NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
atmosphere ? :what:

yall go to the movie to interact with the audience ? to me theres zero difference between seeing a movie in theater and at home. Im not there for the fukking audience. in fact, dead audience=best audience :myman: stfu so I can hear and enjoy my movie, yes, thank you.

I can sort of maybe agree with a LIVE comedy act like chapelle. stand up comedians need encouragement and connecting with the audience.

but in movies and shows that dont tape live ? :what:

whats next, background noise of popcorn and cell phones injected in laugh tracks ? :what:

U not gettin it fam..its all good tho agree to disagree..lol...

I always got a kick out of them truthfully.. a live audience is definitely better no doubt about it but the laugh tracks are even comical with in itself

I love the laugh tracks in cartoons, especially all those older Hanna Barbara joints. This is a old school gem that's damn near like a situational comedy with laugh track and all

My theory is that people are in some competition to think they are smart these days. Can't just watch tv they like. They have to justify everything they do. This is one of those things. You don't watch comedies with laugh tracks because you are too smart for that. The thing is, the so-called "smart" comedy is not "smart" and that's usually code for dry ass white humor. Sorry, but I don't find Tobias Funke - Analrapist funny at all. I don't find the name Bob Loblaw funny, and its not funny that George Michael wanted to commit incest with his cousin. But somehow its funny because it doesn't have a laugh track. Typical "look at me, I'm smart" post 2000 BS. I think this started when white professors started analyzing rap lyrics. Scust.

Broke it down perfectly, especially the bolded. There's too much of this condescending, "I'm much too smart and everyone needs to see it" attitude nowadays.

And Seinfeld would of been better without a laugh track? What world is this? :what:

Honestly, now I prefer non laugh track shows.. but I don't get the backlash of the ones that do use them. They were such a staple for so long, how could you be mad at them. Just accept that there's two different styles of sitcoms and keep it movin'.

I've watched every episode of this show more times than a person should and I've never noticed that. Some people look too far into things.

I know people who be like "HIMYM is a great show, but it's too smart to have a laugh track and be shot multi-camera". I agree that it'd be better without it, but it isn't so bad that you can't get over the fact it has a laugh track.

I can't agree with you on this. Seeing a comedy in a packed theater is obviously going to be more fun than being in said theater alone or with one or two people.

I'm pretty sure HIMYM is filmed and then shown to a live studio audience. There are no laugh track used in the episodes. The writers said mostly what this forum is saying about laugh tracks taking away from the ambience of the comedy.

Things change, laugh tracks just come off as old-fashioned and manipulative to some people. I personally think that some shows need em and others don't. Obviously, the "rhythm" of the show changes depending on whether or not you have a laugh track. If it fits, I'm for it. When it doesn't, dump it.

Really depends on the quality of the show. No laugh track doesn't automatically make a show good. Although I think a show being made currently that uses laugh tracks tells me it's gonna be pretty cliche.

One thing that does annoy me about laugh tracks, no matter what show, is the pausing in dialogue and camera panning around to characters looking perplexed when something funny happens and the laugh track/audience laughs.

For me the ONLY show I can watch with no laugh track is Curb Your Enthusiasm.

You ever watched the Chappelle Show raw footage with no laugh track? It's a little less funny.

Chappelle's Show is a little different. There isn't really much pausing for extended laughter. The show would still be elite with or without audience laughter.

Broke it down perfectly, especially the bolded. There's too much of this condescending, "I'm much too smart and everyone needs to see it" attitude nowadays.

And Seinfeld would of been better without a laugh track? What world is this? :what:

IIRC, either Jerry Seinfeld or Larry David didn't want a laugh track and NBC forced them to put one in.

I remember his son was always talking about going to the ghetto. Homie kept his ear to the streets.
