My theory is that people are in some competition to think they are smart these days. Can't just watch tv they like. They have to justify everything they do. This is one of those things. You don't watch comedies with laugh tracks because you are too smart for that. The thing is, the so-called "smart" comedy is not "smart" and that's usually code for dry ass white humor. Sorry, but I don't find Tobias Funke - Analrapist funny at all. I don't find the name Bob Loblaw funny, and its not funny that George Michael wanted to commit incest with his cousin. But somehow its funny because it doesn't have a laugh track. Typical "look at me, I'm smart" post 2000 BS. I think this started when white professors started analyzing rap lyrics. Scust.
no one said AD is funny BECAUSE it doesnt have a laugh track. how did you even arrive at this perverted logic ?
having no laugh track is great because you dont have to laugh at moments that you dont find funny. so in this case, if you dont find something funny on AD, you dont have to listen to an engineer hitting the 'laugh' button and feel like youre missing out on something funny just because the track is there
having a laugh track on a show is akin to a person who laughs at something
only when others in the room laugh at something. its a cue for sheep. its a sign that says 'funny' 'sad' 'angry' and so on when whatever is happening on the screen cannot convince you otherwise.
theres a reason movies dont have laugh tracks. I would literally throw away my tropic thunder dvd if it were to have a laugh track inserted into it.
laugh track is a cheap ass trick that does nothing except manipulate the viewer. its a tell, not show approach that repulses me as someone who reads a lot of books and watches a good amount of movies
