A dude like sting didn’t even debut inside the 100. Few people generate interest for their new stuff over 40 years.

I don’t know about underperforming. If this is just to have some new songs for a tour, it’s more likely a success

People need to stop worrying about first week numbers, if they're not the artists themselves.

The focus should be more on the quality of the music. I wouldn't care if this album sold two copies, if it was actually dope. Dre needs to worry more about not doing a project like this one again. Sh*t was weak.
I've made this same statement over and over. FAcebook, twitter, and IG is filled with people talking about first week numbers when none of them have ever bought a Billboard magazine, own a UPC code, or registered a label. So WHY are people worried about what someone is selling or first week numbers?

Also snoops two latest didn’t even chart.
One of them did 825 copies.

So I don’t know why you added the “underperforms” term like it was in the article

Dre debuted in the 80s and Snoop debuted in the 90s. My pops put me onto Snoop and Dre when I was a kid and still has no clue that they dropped an album… Snoop/Cube/Short/E-40 dropped an album last year and my pops, uncles, etc who listened to them in the 90s still have no idea they dropped an album either :yeshrug:

They have a fan base as legacy acts but their musical fan base most likely ain’t even seein whatever marketing their doing and the ppl who are seeing their marketing most likely do not care about a new Snoop/Dre album because they probably only follow Snoop for funny shyt because he’s the biggest hip hop personality

I think the reviews of this album mean more than streaming #s

Above the fray.

Exactly

I don't give a fukk if I sold 1 or 1 million, but I think you should
Cause if I only sold 1? Out comes the hood

hehehehe
As far as Dre goes, I've seen "top selling" artists in the past gun shy to drop follow ups to big albums because of fear of drop off in sales. I think that's partly why Dre's output of music slowed down so much.

Album sales aren’t the same anymore but the album sucks :yeshrug: . It’s legit garbage

I could see if it was a dope project with low #’s but it’s not

People rather hate than support. You had to know those numbers would be this or even lower. That’s good for them all things considered.

This really isn't shocking.

Snoop has been bricking commercially for over a decade. His albums have largely gone under the radar since his Snoop Lion phase. That's not to say his music is bad as BODR was a pretty solid album but he's been a bigger celebrity than musician for a long while now. Even BODR couldn't make it to the top 100 on Billboard.

As for Dre, he hasn't had a traditional rap release since 2001(the album) and he hasn't been an in demand producer since the mid 2000's. By the time the 2010's came, people knew Detox was a fantasy and Compton was inaccessible to people for a long time due to Tidal. In other words, you had to be a real hip hop or Dre fan to even listen to it. The same casuals who watched the NWA movie likely didn't even know Compton dropped or heard a single song off of it.

So, this sounds about right for both of them. They're legacy acts so you can't expect them to put up big numbers anymore. Nas is an anomaly due to maintaining a strong core fanbase without having to pander to casuals or radio. That's why all the Hit Boy albums minus the ones from 2023 did fine commercially. People actually care about what Nas says whereas Snoop and Dre both use writers and rap about pretty basic/shallow topics so they don't have as strong of a core fanbase.
