If it was a solo snoop album, 36k first week would of been huge. But with huge press run they been doing, every podcast, every sports show, day time talk shows, plus having Dre part of this, bunch of features. You know they expected atleast 60-80k.

This is also snoops biggest first week in almost 10yrs. His last 8 projects never moved over 10k

For where they are and considering it's also holiday season, that's not bad at all.

We have to really check what a) a good first week is and b) whether an album has legs. Only a select few do decent numbers and that's with the bar lowered across the board.

We gotta update how we view sales for legends who have been in the game for 30+ years. There is no world where Snoop or Dre did 100k+ in 2024. It’s not happening. And for all the talk about marketing…no marketing black rap legends do equals a (white) rock legend band being able to announce new music/tours and have every rock radio station in the country promote it. Meanwhile rap radio is entirely focused on new music and barely acknowledges anything 5 years old, much less 30.

Good numbers for Dre. Good numbers for Ice Cube. Good numbers for LL. Salute the legends and if you fukk with the music what else matters?

Put this in perspective
Snoop dropped an album on the same day as Bossman Dlow who's the hottest street rapper right now and outsold him first week

People need to stop worrying about first week numbers, if they're not the artists themselves.

The focus should be more on the quality of the music. I wouldn't care if this album sold two copies, if it was actually dope. Dre needs to worry more about not doing a project like this one again. Sh*t was weak.

Judging from this chart, Snoop and Dre would've did numbers if Missionary was a Christmas album or they actually had tacked some Christmas songs on there. Christmas albums have done wonders for other legacy acts this week according to this chart.

Tbh thats super underwhelming considering all the money they put on marketing. I can't remember the last time we saw an album being promoted like that. It's everywhere, tv ads, radio ads, collectibles, interviews, documentaries, even Eminem's return in 2009 didn't have that kind of campaign.

It's the most marketed album I've seen since the late 2000s. Not even pop stars were pushing their album like that.

All that money and they're only moving 36k...This is for sure the last time we see Dre working with an old collaborator again, it wasn't worth it critically/commercially.
The album is just a Gin & Juice campaign ad
