You have the right to your beliefs just anybody else, whether they strongly believe in god or whatever, doesn't mean they're wrong or right. I personally steer clear of topics such as politics or religion during work hours, but let me tell you something, at work a day ago, I was basically told by a "lovely" colleague that I wasn't going to heaven because I didn't have a personal relationship with god because I wouldn't answer a question about Jesus dying for our sins. I'm not going to talk about my religious beliefs because it's not the point. Atheists and highly religious individuals tend to be too black/white in their beliefs and for that, I have no interests in arguing with either group. Good luck with being an atheists.

I found that point hilarious. Usually it's the other way around. A trauma causes people to turn to God out of desperation. Like people who start praying when they think they're about to die despite not going to church at all most of their life.

Most of my friends don't believe in a higher power, and it had nothing to do with some sort of trauma. We just have no need for religion, and our thought process has brought us to the point where we see no reason to believe in in the validity of it either.

No no no I've seen the opposite, a trauma happens and the person loses all faith in believing such as how can god let this happen etc etc. Go on with your beliefs. In a way, it's like atheists do believe in a higher power, nothingness. Do you believe in the law of attraction?

Wether I believe in God or not isn't gonna change a damn thing to God existing or not. Now, consider the following:

1. There's no tangible proof to the existence of God. We cannot hear, smell, feel or touch God so how do we know if God exists or not.
2. What's the definition of God? There are iterally hundreds to thousands available.

Ask a christian or muslim about teh existence of God and he'd say it is a fact rather than faith. For them, believing in God or not isn't similar.
I've never heard no Christian or Muslim or any other sane person call their belief in god "a fact" it's ludicrous. There are many different names for god, no one religious system is right.

Ideally, everyone should be free to have his own beliefs, the issue is that religious people will believe they're right no matter what, despite logic & reason being on the opposite side. Case in point, that "lovely" colleague who believes you should be punished for having different beliefs. An atheist will likely say that belief in God(s) and mythical stories are unfounded and untrue meanwhile a religious person may literally think you should be rotting in hell for having different beliefs.

Exactly...but both are stubborn groups when it comes to their beliefs. This discussion was nice. Best of!

Ask a muslim/christian if God exists and they will respond yes with certainty. Belief in God is the most important pillar in those religions.

What if I told you that religious people have "beliefs" as you call it.

HOWEVER

Atheist do not have a "belief", because the definition of atheist= a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods.

You do see the difference now? It doesn't require faith to be an atheist because literally everything that is tangible "real" is observable in a persons existence.
An atheist does not equip himself with a certain book, say an atheist prayer, or attend an atheist church. An atheist is the rational default, as he lives on this earth, adheres to the golden rule, and blows some gas pondering realistic explanations/possibilities to universal questions.

nah, that would be ridiculous. lets hear where you think it is

im sure your answer wont be ridiculous :skip:

In another realm, btw nobody thinks God is some old guy in the sky thats just how our demonic pop culture depicts, and i understand how heaven can sound fictional. It just makes sense to me that theirs a place for good people and a seperate place for wicked people (not saying you're wicked). i understand how people can become atheist and agnostic but to act like your special with it or let it be known all randomly asap is such pretentious a$$hole shyt.

Why are atheists a$$holes?
:what:

Why did religious people allow kids to be molested and raped?
Why did religious people protect and relocate sexually abusive priests?
Why did religious people put black people in chains and ship them to become slaves?
Why did religious people chop off the hands of west indians who didn't find enough gold for them?
Why did religious people rape women and children all over the new world?
Why did religious people (I'm looking at you, Mother Theresa) collect millions of dollars in donations to help the sick and suffering...and then refused to spend that money on healing the sick and suffering?
Why did religious people provide safe passage out of Europe for the Nazis?

and on, and on...

Go fukk yourselves.

:camby:
Those aren't religious people, those are hypocrites and abusers. Truly righteous people are less in numbers.
The Pope, Clefto Dollar, Joel Osteen, T.D Jakes, etc are false prophets for $$$.
