Atheism is not the answer to the conflict of religion tho. That is also indisputable. That's my point. To act as tho if more people were atheist there would be no conflict is absurd and that's what a lot of atheist believe. If we lived in a world were there was no religion there would be just as much conflict cause that's human nature. We'd all just find something else to fight about
Yes, but people wouldn't be able to use religion to hide behind things like bigotry, or to gain power through violence. I was in no way implying that Atheism is the answer to religion. There are entirely too many people that are held in check simply because they think there's some kind of hellish punishment for not following the bible, or the quran, or any other religious text. Those people need religion more than anything, because if they didn't have that to hold them in check they could potentially become dangerous to the general population.
My problem with religion stems more from the Christians in the US who attempt to use the government as a means to "spread the word" through bullshyt legislation. If you don't believe in something due to your religious beliefs that's fine with me. With that said, forcing your religion on people who don't believe in it is wrong. If we could completely eliminate religious laws from the government I honestly wouldn't even care about it. The middle east is a mess that will never be solved, but the US's problem is politicians trying to appease people who think it's ok to force their religious beliefs on the general population.
I mean christ their stances contradict like a mother fukker. We have people who want to ban abortion because they believe it's murder, but want to carpet the middle east..... Small problem carpet bombing civilians is also MURDER. It's things like that bother the shyt out of me, especially since Jesus was a pacifist. Jesus was also a socialist and these people hate socialism something serious. They just don't make any damn sense to me.
