Without integration blacks wouldn't be able to attend Ivy Leagues or schools of that caliber. People thinking segregation was good, clearly didn't live in those conditions and are playing armchair QB. Ask your great grandmother if she prefers it that way. In case you didnt know, blacks had shytty facilities because they didn't have the buying power back then, and dont paste a link to the buying power of today, because that is BECAUSE of integration. Apartheid, etc, are all proof of what happens when there is segregation, the minorities get the short end. The govt doesnt give you shyt, if we had it today, welfare would have been cut off years ago, but because white people, and the elderly are on it too, it's been protected. There are various reasons why integration is a good thing.

I think there should be segregation on certain levels tho. for example, cops, judges and teachers should reflect the population of the district.

Also....there's far more xenophobia when you have segregation, fear of the other side, fear of the unknown. The reason we have less racism today, and no more downright wars like we had back then, is because of integration, we live around each other a lot more, and when you have that, you humanize the other side. white people were out there marching in Oakland AND Trayvon Martin. Believe it or not, a lot of these cacs getting fired for slipping on twitter, are because of white outrage, not ours. White folks check each other and call each other racist way more than we do. If there was segregation today, cacs wouldn't have ANY sympathy for our cause, and we'd be on the losing end, because we only make up 10%, and we're confined in pockets of areas. there are only 30 mil vs 200 mil cacs with way more money and power than us. If they want to move our facilities to the desert, there's no stopping them. The only reason we can prevent that, is because we have some cacs on our side. We like to ignore these cacs, but they do exist.

the U.S is more segregated than Brazil, and Brazil is going a bit better than we are social wise. I can't think of any country where segregation is successful. Anyone?

i understand where the OP is coming from. in short, the integration has lowered our self-sufficiency as a race. It has done nothing but put more money in the hands of the white man.

You can spit that "we are the world" "kumbaya" stuff all you want, but how many businesses out there are collectively black owned and operated? how many black people are getting people HIRED based on connections instead of FIRED due to some stupid statement some racist white woman said on twitter on a plane ride? How many businesses in BLACK neighborhoods are actually owned and OPERATED by BLACK people? Instead of Middle Easterners, Russians, Koreans, Indians, and other people that really at the end of the day don't give a flying PHUCK about us as a people?

Black Americans IMO can b so docile and weak sometimes. Always wanting to be accepted by other people, always wanting to have the good graces of other races and willing to put the priorities of our own aside to be accepted while they bleed us dry, take credit for our accomplishments, gentrify our neighborhoods and reimagine the things we've created with us as far away from the picture as possible.

I think about when black people thought moving into the suburbs was "the move". Y'all know why the suburbs were created...right? They weren't created for us. They were created for white people and they did so much after ww2 with laws to make sure we never moved there. Then integration happened and it just seperated the collective effort black americans could of made and in turn divided the community.

IMO, the drug war and crack epidemic was not an accident at all. It was done to further divide the Black Community and black dollar. Affirmative Action is also a trap...that only really benefitted white women while making sure that there were quotas to diversity to make sure there aren't as many black people or minorities in a business so it stays majority white owned and operated. Those big name Fortune 500 companies would rather die than have a Black man take over them (watch Trading Spaces).

Need to create our OWN businesses and celebrate our OWN financial appraisals. Why should we just be begging for those same people (not the exact same people...but that same mentality still is prevalent today) for a job that didn't even see us as human? It doesn't make sense to run towards enemies for employment because it only weakens us.

1. we have distorted standards that rely on WASP owned brand names.
2. we don't trust the quality of service / products that our own ppl provide
3. crabs in a bucket mentality
4. people will ask for discounts from people just b/c...not treating them as real businesses

Because it's arguing that we were better off under a system that saw us far removed from anything resembling a human existence in this society. We would be divided from critical information and resources if we had never been integrated. Blacks already suffer from high rates of illiteracy.
