You can look at the 'Urban' section of your bookstore and you'll see there are only certain topics we get to write about to the masses. Relationships and Religion.

A poster said we need more producers and studios and that poster is right. Somebody without a lot of hangups. I appreciate Tyler Perry's accomplishments but things in his past clearly drive a lot of negativity in his works.

A lot of those books are independently published by the authors themselves and not from a big publishing house which are akin to a big movie studio but in the book world. A good percentage of black writers still only write hood shyt, love stories, and drug capers

She isn't saying anything new but many people don't know this stuff. You have folks referring to actors in real life by their character's name. Entertainment is only make believe and not to be replicated in real life. This needs to be stressed to children from kindergarten up to high school.

True, you gotta grind it out on your own via youtube and some projects made on cheaper equipment most times if you're not plugged in and have connections. Then keep scaling up in quality once you get an audience and the Hollywood heads start to hear about you and your name is getting hot. The CIA/government might have a hand in a few Hollywood projects but overall these studios are out to make money first and foremost. A government type can hand a movie big wig a script but if they're not funding it, its wack, and not something that can make them money they're not f*cking with it. There's a gang of black production companies here in LA and the ATL but most of them don't have any money to make anything. You take them a script and they like it the first thing out of there mouths next is where do we get the money to make this? Half of this shyt is simply finding investors/money to make shyt. But guys like 50 Cent can probably now get something made outside of the drug realm. Why is Tyler Perry still making low quality fair when he has hundreds of millions and his own studio. Oprah, Will Smith, Lee Daniels, Will Packer, Kenya Burris, etc more than likely can do what they want and get something greenlit.

This is why we need more black production companies and directors. As long as the cacs and c00ns are running the show, the agenda will continue to be pushed. Black movies/shows will continue to have a drug nexus with abusive toxic men/relationships and violence.
