This thread is not about economics though, dumbass. Its about the impact of culture.

But again...whatever you'll do to shy off any criticism so you can harp on the obvious component.

Ok so you agree. What's the solution? Keep in mind that the other parenting styles can lead to an early burial for children growing up in the ghetto. I don't think an Authoritarian parenting style is bad during the volatile years, so when should a Authoritative style start? I'm really interested to hear this.

Propaganda. Money and resources and those alone, are the only factors.

explain, then, why middle to upper middle class black students also lag behind their white peers. you can give a black family a million dollars, but you're not going to see much of a difference in performance between that rich black kid and the poor black living in the ghetto. they're both going to do poorly and not perform as well as whites. why? culture. black culture, unlike what exists in the white and asian community, doesn't celebrate academic achievement. instead, having "swag" and being a bad ass gangsta nikka is what's cool, even for those blacks who never grew up in the hood. until black america owns up to the toxic state of its culture, black students will always - by and large - be failures next to their white classmates.

I haven't seen a longitudinal study on this. Until they measure Blacks in a high income bracket from an early age to graduation, those studies are misleading since there are studies that say the exact opposite. Also, top notch education sectors are White dominated. We need to have majority Black institutions of top quality. I have yet to see any suggestions from any of you.

nice piece touching upon what i commented on: a lot of black people don't value education. they care more about designer clothes, fake hair, and other meaningless bullshyt rather than truly advancing, which requires a committed focus on learning. you can't just say it's money and racism. that excuse doesn't fly when you see poor academic performance by rich blacks.

Bullshyt. I already told you that it's a resource issue, even controlling for wealth, a rich Black kid is still using White institutions and resources. You're more likely to learn from someone that looks like you. I doubt they are even measuring Wealthy Blacks in a longitudinal study so who knows how accurate the stats are in the first place. Yall think the worst and offer no solutions.

knowledge isn't race-based. no matter who is teaching the course, you should be able to digest the information and apply it without any regard to the instructor's race. how am i thinking the worst and offering no solutions?? i'm telling you that black culture needs to change before we see significant improvement in the academic performance of black children. we need to start valuing information and intelligence! we need to STOP valuing sneakers and rims (a crude metaphor, but you get the gist).

Knowledge isn't but "to educate" is more nuanced than that, look up "monkey neurons." We learn and mimic those that mirror us. You're just making statements with no real substance that could lead to real world enactment.

its not race based...

the problem is the allocation of resources...theres a reason why schools in impoverished areas dont do as well as schools in more affluent areas...

I don't agree.

I don't think an authoritarian parenting style is good.

Where the hell did you get that from?

You stay trying to mislead lesser minds on this board with this "Gaslighting" and half-assed logic of yours. SOME of us pick up on that.

I'm just saying that you're more interested in pushing your brand of debate when we're not even discussing that.

You've never grew up in the hood and you don't understand the importance of the "do as I say" style of parenting.

Is that a point of pride for you? :heh:

doesn't matter anyways. I grew up with black parents from the islands that didn't take any shyt either, but they didn't stifle my ability to employ logic when they talked with me or discourage my own expression.

I had parents that did well enough that they didn't grow their kids up in "the hood"

I'm proud as hell of that and I plan on doing that for my kids too.

It's not a point of pride but a point of survival.
