i hear you my only point is that the people who did the casting dropped the ball. It seems like this is based of confusion of the character and they jumped they gun on the ScarJO idea in light of the marve movies on some "oh scarjo does martial arts in these movies and has sex appeal, lets just hire her and call it a day". It was the easiest decision at the time without doing ground work on the character, the culture of japan surrounding this anime and felt that scarjo would recieve north american appeal from audiences where as a lesser known, but talented, asain actress wouldntBreh I posted receipts about this earlier. There are actual white people in Ghost in the Shell. They are drawn differently from other characters and are even referred to as white by the non-white characters. This isn't some race neutral shyt. Here's an example below....
A scene from the original movie when there's a white dude in it.
One of the characters reacts...
The Major (female on the right) replies...
A lot of us have expressed our opinions about the Nina movie already. Safe to say, most of us won't be supporting it.
They draw big eyes because it's easier to do expressions that way. Again, a decision that has more to do with the very medium than with any sense of white-washing. Outside of that there are no "Caucasian" features beyond the hair/eye color, which again, is because it looks better on paper. It really isn't any different than Naruto wearing bright orange/blue clothes (which is the same color scheme of Goku's clothes btw, as Naruto's design was largely a homage to Dragonball).
dem tittiesIf she was younger Kelly Hu might've been able to play this role even though she's not Japanese:
So expressions can't be done with the positioning of eyebrows and the shape of a mouth?
It can only be done with big blue eyes backed by blonde hair?
Didn't Dragonball do it with Yajirobe, the only character who was definitively "Asian looking" (made a powerless character BTW )
You damn well know they can definitely draw them Asian and do the "expressions" if they wanted to, but that would contradict the White fantasy
Naruto looked asian despite the blue eyes and blonde hair that's why so far it's been said that he's mixed.

No, actually I'm not. I said he looks mixed.fam im sorry but you contradicting yourself
in retrospect Naruto a fukkin Aryan white boy. In Boruto grown up he even looks like Aaron Carter
had white actors wearing makeup to appear asian
In each of the three (or four) different stories, the characters were played by the same cast of actors. One story takes place in Asia in the distant future, so they slapped make-up on a bunch of white actors to have them appear Asian, most notably Halle Berry being turned into an old Asian man (yes, no joke). Additionally, both Halle Berry and Korean actress Doona Bae also play white characters in the movie and as said there is some gender-swapping as well.
Shes almost 50 and ChineseIf she was younger Kelly Hu might've been able to play this role even though she's not Japanese:
Why didnt they just hire the asian chick from Pacific Rim???
