None of this has anything to do w/ Snyder and all that. This is bigger than that. Whatever they do on Thursday they better have a plan because they can end up in the same boat as Netflix or far worse..

Oh I know it's bigger than that, and that's what she's been telling people. They have their own plans for everything and they don't care about how passionate you are. They're going to do what they want with what they own.

Also on the Batgirl front. The movie was finished filming but it wasnt "complete", it still had post production to complete. I've seen that sentiment posted a lot. Post production was not complete. So it was a tax write off and to save money.

Discovery Dude seems to have gotten a look at how much money you can make selling shyt to other streaming services and is making the decision to stop producing lots of content specifically for his own service and instead make shyt he can sell to other folks.
That is the whole reason The CW was being sold, because WB was going to move all their stuff to HBO Max which took away the loot those shows made internationally and on Netflix.

So if the plan is to:
1. Leave HBO the home of the "prestige" TV shows WB produces
2. Make a smaller slate of films for theatrical release only
3. Turn HBO Max into a cheap unscripted show heavy service where old WB shows that don't have the demand to be sold to a 3rd party streamer can be re-watched

Then moving HBO Max to a hub on Discovery+ starts to make more sense because HBO Max will be some bullshyt that no one will care about anyway.

This isn’t a 200 million dollar like Dune where they are changing stuff up to the last minute.

Post production was started and near completion. There are only 4 months left in the year. Same with Scoob 2.

??? What year is he living in?

The other streamers don‘t want each other’s stuff. Thats why Netflix content got pulled .That’s the point of the platforms. You keep 100% of the profits from your production.

People watching the Flash on Netflix didn’t translate to them watching the CW in the same amount. You were pumping up Netflix profits with subscriptions on your material with only a licenses fee.

True it wasnt Dune, but it still needed more work to complete it. Let's lowball it and say it needed 10M to complete it and market it and put it on Max. By putting it on max, you can't list it as a write off. Reports had it already costing over 90M. So it was either finish it for 10M or write it off for 90M. They chose the latter.

Why are you framing it as only those two options? You have Michael freaking Keaton! Obi Wan was barely passable but Disney makes is money on new Star Wars junk to sell on top of subscriptions.

You realize superheroes are merchandising behemoths? You realize how much money you are missing not making Keaton Batman toys to go with Batgirl and Batgirl toys?

WW1984 had high subscription sign ups and that movie wasn’t good either.

It’s not a simple as a Seinfeld just write it off.

"Come watch House of the Dragon/Euphoria/The Last of Us on Discovery+" doesn't sound right at all lol. People gonna cancel just off the name alone
"Come watch House of the Dragon/Euphoria/The Last of Us" at HBO on Discovery+

It's an easy way to phrase it. Don't make it more difficult than it is. These mergers are going to happen in this new climate, so viewers will just have to deal with it as every streamer out here isn't going to make it alone.

none of these are/looked particularly good. streaming services are taking the wrong lessons. stop making subpar shyt. people will watch whatever you throw on your streaming service, but don't be shocked when they start talking about how "mid" everything is. and you can't just fukkin course correct by producing more cheap dogshyt inscripted stuff, throw your hands up and say, "well, we tried movies." realize you are putting out subpar content to fill your feed. at least Netflix is slowly realizing that they don't have to give Ryan Reynolds and the Rock $40 mil each to fight in front of shytty green screens. yeah millions watch it, but that's b/c it's there. make good shyt and they'll watch that and itch for more. every netflix blockbuster costs $200 mil, and they pump out 66% done scripts.

Don't need teens. They aint buying individual accounts. And young adults will ride in on shared accounts to catch the Game of Thrones type shyt.

But everything the new CEO has done has been bout cutting cost. If you have HBO and you spending a grip on all of those productions why waste a ton of money on constantly producing mid ass shows for a platform that mainly is subsidized by HBO content besides a few shows.
Im sure they crunched the numbers and saw that the sopranos and the wire probably getting more views than anything else :pachaha:
I wish to dap this but I do not want you anywhere near my lady mother, sir!

You’re conflating two things.

HBO and WB studios are two separate things.

HBO being niche is fine. It only programs for two nights a week with an emphasis on premium event tv on Sunday(Soprano, SATC, GOT, Succession). It reruns the other nights. WB makes movies and tv shows for cable, network, and now streaming.

HBOMax is a platform fed from these two entities. It can’t be niche. It has to cater to a worldwide audience 365 for 24 hrs a day.

Now that other studios are keeping their IPs exclusive to their own platforms, you might not see TOP Gun Maverick on HBO cause Paramount wants to to sign up for their service. Marvel stays on Disney+, etc.

So if people are tightening their belts for one or two streamers… being the home of 20 seasons of past My 600 pound Life ain’t going to make people jump on your service as opposed to getting scripted cartoons for their kids to watch, new scripted movies not on DVD, and watercooler shows to talk about on Reddit like Westworld.
There are too many streaming services for any of these companies to make the type of money they want. Everyone that is into watching tv is now spread out between the multiple companies.

Paramount plus is a good example of a company that doesn’t have enough content to have their own service. These execs do these things to impress shareholders and make it seem like this is going to save them money but in actuality my 600lb life is just as niche as a show like succession.

Discover+ taking over is just going to confuse the casual viewer and piss off the hbo max subscribers.

I don’t understand everything but I’m sure this isn’t the move
