That trailer was fire. The Spin-Offs aren't suppose to feel like the Episodes. This gave off a very depressing "Empire Strikes Back" vibe. Plus we've never seen the Empire in it's prime on the screen. Only the beginning (Prequels) and the End (Originals). I don't care about "Another Female Lead" as long as the character is good is all that matters. It's still going to be a ton of dudes fighting as it's a war film. Wouldn't be shocked if she' related to a central character in the Episodes. Or she does something that connects Episodes III and IV. I knew there was going to be no Jedi so I'm fine. It's basically "Star Wars Battlefront: The Movie".
Again I liked what I saw because it felt really dark like it's going to be a Violent Star Wars movie. I will admit though, it felt more like a TV Series than a movie if that makes sense. I guess it's just weird seeing a Star Wars film and zero light sabers. I'm sure Vader will be in it but I probably won't be a large role. That shot was most likely The Emperor but it could of been Vader. Now is this were George would of taken it?
Maybe not because he never focused on the period between "Sith" and "Hope" outside of letting authors do it in the extended universe. But the writers based the story off Lucas original "Star Wars" Script. Again these spin offs are more Anthology films within the universe. But "Rouge One" is a double meaning. Obviously she's the "Rogue One" that's a rebel. But that's also a call sign so I'm sure there will be some big space battle. But like the Prequels, we already know the ending of this film before it happens. It's just seeing how it happen. The story is based on the opening crawl of "A New Hope" so as far as this being another Original Trilogy Rehash Disney is doing, atleast it's techincally a prequel to the original trilogy but closer than the Prequels were to the timeline:
Revenge of the Sith------------------Rogue One-----A New Hope
It is a period of civil war.
Rebel spaceships, striking
from a hidden base, have won
their first victory against
the evil Galactic Empire.
During the battle, Rebel
spies managed to steal secret
plans to the Empire's
ultimate weapon, the DEATH
STAR, an armored space
station with enough power
to destroy an entire planet.
Pursued by the Empire's
sinister agents, Princess
Leia races home aboard her
starship, custodian of the
stolen plans that can save her
people and restore
freedom to the galaxy....
