Watched the 1992 Dracula and it is pretty brilliant. Oldman should have been scaled way way back as the old count, he looks fukking ridiculous. Very sexual, very violent, it's an impressive movie. Hopkins is hilarious. There's a scene where he casually tells someone

oh we staked her and cut of her head, have some more dinner (with the classic Hopkins delivery)

Hit up this girl who likes horror, but Christmas is busy and I'm traveling Saturday, not sure when I'll see this but really looking forward to it.

Keanu was the weak link, he was distractingly bad. If they cast Depp like Coppola wanted it would've helped.

If I was a critic in 1992, for sure. But watching it in 2024, as an adult, it didn't take away much for me, because it was such a fun movie. It's a LOT campy at times. And a lot cheesy at others. Reeves fit right in, with Gary Oldman in a damn red gown, prancing around lol

I wasn't crazy about this. AMC also fukked up. they started the movie 5 minutes early with NO trailers. I came in 8 min after showtime. and there were people that came 10-15 min after me. AMC usually has 22-28 min of previews.(plus the kidman and coca cola ads)

I saw another movie in a different theater later in the day and caught the 12 min i missed and then bounced.

it was beautiful to look at, though a bit dark at times like everything post 2016. i wasn't crazy about skarsgaards performance. depp was good, though i still wish Anya Taylor-Joy hadn't dropped out(for an apple TV+ movie no less).

so beautiful to look at. a bit gross. some sex but not sure i'll revisit it much. i prefer coppola's film to be honest.

I got a love hate relationship with this movie. Everyone acted their ass off.
I didn’t care for Davoe’s character or the end.
Good movie, wouldn’t watch again tho.
Probably the best horror movie this year.

Wesley Morris review is funny

You really feel the gathering dread. But there are snags. Anybody trying to adapt even an adaptation of what, in Stoker’s telling, is ultimately a series of letters and diary entries, faces steep challenges in the character department. You’re stuck with all these Victorian normies, wallflowers. The actors playing them — including Aaron Taylor Johnson and Emma Corrin — drift around what ultimately is a costume drama that’s compelling only when it’s under assault.

This has always been true in every adaptation
