Lily Rose Depp I was unfamiliar with your game :wow:

This was that pure uncut dope brehs. I loved the cinematography in this, the way how they hid the Count in the shadows was masterful. He nailed the gothic tone. Could this have been sexier? Sure and that's what most of the Letterboxd reviews I saw touched on but that didn't stop this from being great. If anything it spun it's wheels a bit in the second half. Lowkey might be Eggers best, and I say this as someone who didn't like The Witch that much.

Oh and let's not start this revisionist history of Coppola's Dracula being great. That was some camp nonsense, we're not doing that now :usure:

I wasn't crazy about this. AMC also fukked up. they started the movie 5 minutes early with NO trailers. I came in 8 min after showtime. and there were people that came 10-15 min after me. AMC usually has 22-28 min of previews.(plus the kidman and coca cola ads)
No wonder people don't like going to the movies, y'all are victims :picard:

I saw another movie in a different theater later in the day and caught the 12 min i missed and then bounced.

it was beautiful to look at, though a bit dark at times like everything post 2016. i wasn't crazy about skarsgaards performance. depp was good, though i still wish Anya Taylor-Joy hadn't dropped out(for an apple TV+ movie no less).

so beautiful to look at. a bit gross. some sex but not sure i'll revisit it much. i prefer coppola's film to be honest.

:deadrose: Me and my girl always bet on when Nicole will show up

Idk
I feel like it was always going to struggle to out do Herzog's version in my mind, so I'll have to just keep my boomer ass opinion to myself.

But when I saw Depp doing the exorcist contortioning, I kinda said nah fukk that, and checked out.

Really enjoyed a lot of the beginning.
The build-up to Thomas arriving at Count Orlok’s estate was magical. I’d pay to see it again for those scenes alone.

When that carriage opened and bro started floating towards it. :ohlawd:

I REALLY enjoyed this. I think this might be my favorite Dracula film and definitely my favorite Eggers movie. Everything worked for me- the dialogue, pacing, cinematography, the freaking killings. It was all so brutal both physically and psychologically in a way I don’t think anyone has done before. I especially love this very demonic and folklore mythical take that really embraces just how devilish this creature is. The possession and plague in particular made the story feel fresh. 9/10 for me because I still need subtitles for Eggers 😆

watched it Christmas night I was absolutely angry at myself for watching this in standard vision(tickets for times that would work was sold out):scust:i expected this movie to be dark and visually amazing but, standard view really hurt my experience. The movie itself had strong performances all around some solid jump scares and eerie feel to it. Eggers did a great job of capturing the og tone of the original within the new adaption of that makes sense. So it can definitely come off as boring to an unfamiliar audience. I don’t know how to rate it just yet, I feel to really get the movie I have to watch it atleast one more time. One thing I will say tho, Lilly definitely stole the show.

I respect this opinion

I’ve seen a lot of opinions saying the ending was anti-clamatic

When it’s the same ending from every other Nosferatu film :patrice:

I can’t wait to see it again in a venue that isn’t amc

Juat finished. this was some piff, but it did drag a bit towards the end. Nepo Depp throwing her hat in the ring for scream queen... theres so many good shouts now i say let them continue to duke it out on screen cuz we winning!
