Really, what is with Mexicans and Jordans? It can't even be the whole "they live around black people" thing because they also buy a lot of Jordans in places like San Antonio that don't have many black people.
Culture is fluid / dynamic and cross-pollinates. Jordans are part of Mexican culture. You can be a fav and love tacos without ever having grown up around Mexicans. Same deal applies.

I’d agree with that. If the Mexican-American community has blind spots it’s on education and what they do with their women. But those blind spots come with such positives on the flip (strong dedication to trades / work that is high ROI in terms of learning costs to dollar made, and strong, unambiguous family units) that it’s a net positive.

I agree. I think it would be ideal to pursue higher education, with a trade to fall back on if that doesn't work out

When you're 20 deep in a 2bedroom you can do that.
Idiots recommend this lifestyle for born US citizens, "maybe we learn something"
:gtfo:
All high performing immigrant groups outside of asians fall off after a generation, btw.
This nikka said "jamaicans" in the corporate world lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

I'm not an expert on this, but in Brooklyn and The Bronx there are many Jamaican-Americans facing the same social ills as AAs. West Indians and AAs live in the same neigborhoods, and the gangs there seem to have plenty of West Indian members. Bobby Shmurda is half Jamaican/half Trinidadian, for instance

They over-do it on the (shytty) fashion purposes, and yes they do have a culture of shytting on poor people.
"Mojado" isn't a made up word, it's a slur.

I think it would be more accurate to say that they copied it from black people after they made Js cool. The same way plenty of Mexican kids from bumfukk, Arizona use black slang due to the popularity of hip-hop music

Most NYC crips are caribbean.
Guyanese brought cripping to nyc in the 80s after being deported from the LA area and coming back.
Hence Harlem 30s being in Harlem NY as well, despite the set name not having anything to do with current NY members.
Jamaicans were a decent part of the 80s drug war, they lost trying to toehold a country with competition, got beat, got deported, went square or took it to safer places like canada and the uk.

bubutbut group economics.
Lingual barrier, perception, cheap labor, and "extra incentives x semi-sponsored illegal acts" can't be matched by bullshyt "go get em, tigerrrrrr" :damn: "WORK HARDER, WORK FASTER, YOU CAN OUT HUSTLE THE EARRRRTH" :damn:black idiots that usually end up being exposed as pawns for white capital, or scammers who are only pro black for money.
Being an opportunist is good. Thinking everybody else methods can be applied to us is fukking stupid.
We are not quadruple stimulus booster-beggar (still scamming: kiryas yoel) jews.
We are not mercantile worldwide nigerians.
We are not soldier-built mini fridge economic blitzkrieg mexicac hybrids, either.
We are born citizens who are owed much more than, but given far less than 2/3 groups we foolishly helped bring here with good spirit and intentions.
"I came here with nothing" plane tickets ain't cheap and neither is a "coyote"
:camby:

We recognize the same headwinds for the community, but my question is this: then what?

What’s the solution?

As I mentioned in my post, I don’t think there’s a single group of people in history that have been in a situation comparable with the ones AAs are in currently as a result of slavery and discrimination in the US.

I also don’t think rah-rahism and culture are the ONLY avenues.

I’m also in favor of reparations (not necessarily a payment, but subsidized business loans, education, etc.) and think they should be THE defining political issue for AAs in the US. It should be THE issue around which we trade political favors with every other group (while we still have critical enough mass to do so because the window is closing).

However, I don’t think culture is something out of our control. It’s gradual and takes years to develop, but it starts somewhere. Cultures have been engineered (consumer culture in the US being a great example), but you have to have goals in mind.

I favor trying.

That’s what I was getting at clumsily. Are skinny jeans black culture? Black kids wear them in the hood without direct exposure to CACs but here we are. All I’m saying.

That's not really what I'm saying but you're free to interrupt it that way. I'm really saying that i went to school with a lot of hispanics. Most of my classes were with hispanics and white people. So the notion of hispanics not going to school needs to change when Universities out here have 25000+ students and almost half of the overall population is hispanic. That myth needs to be deaded. It will be shrink in the coming years.....

I have a lot of hispanic friends that are in graduate school / graduated graduate school as well.

Did you go to school in a high hispanic population state or city though? Cause I went to school (high school-college) in Mississippi and Tennessee. Latinos weren't deep in any respect. The future latino college graduates generation were in elementary by the time I finished college.

Breh, like I said, EVERY CULTURE HAS A CULTURE OF shytTING ON POOR PEOPLE. I get it.

That shyt is on steroids in modern AA culture for reasons of history / treatment in the country (I get that too).

There’s nothing wrong in pointing it out. Whether or not it’s something that can be overcome / changed is to be seen.

We are trying.
We have different groups smashed into one group trying to do the damn thing after even TODAY'S fukkery and you have the nerve to make a dumb ass thread like this.
You just met mexicans? You a new york nikka or some shyt?
Look at them in cities where they comprise the majority.
You'll change your mind instead of boosting people who weren't here shooting in the gym, but damn sure took advantage of legislation WE got changed.
We did everything these groups did x 1000 in harder conditions, got it taken multiple times, smashed on, flooded with dope (from them) and we are still here. fukkouttahea nikka.
Why did black people lobby for that? Pan Africanism? Black and brown?
That shyt aint real, they here to compete and they need to come correct by giving up 10% of those remittances.

What percentage of the population is black in LA so we can be accurate?
9%?
Why WOULDN'T IT BE 50% or more if they are a LOT more than 9% of the population?
Black presence is STRONG but seeing pockets of LOUD PROUD nikkaS does not mean we have numbers.
You remind me of this young frisco project nikka who didn't know he was living in a tiny pocket of blackness.
Ol "all I see is us" ass nikkas.
Now it's: "all I see is us doing worse than everybody"
