The (formal at least) rules have changed though. The system is what it is but there more room to finesse it these days. There are legal protections, etc. that make the old, more direct ways of crushing our buildings less viable. We still can’t get there the greasy, easy way white people can - they’ll still throw us in jail at the slightest hint of corruption / graft, etch (shoutouts to all my black politicians in jail who learned this the hard way), but we’re not even nailing the basics at the moment.

The point isn’t about putting every dollar to the best use - you still have to be a person.

The point is how many dollars are going to best use vs. not. In the grand scheme of things, spending $100 more than you should on some Js isn’t a big deal if you’re spending $300-$500 less than you would EVERY MONTH because of how the most important: big ticket expenses are being set up.

Of course we're all humans and deserve to treat ourselves sometimes. But something I want to say is that in NYC, dirt poor Chinese and Bengladeshi people live in the same neighborhoods as Mexicans, yet their kids still do well in school. I do NOT mean to suck off Asians here, my point is more so that Mexicans can succeed too if they place more emphasis on education. I'm not even saying they have to be like Asian tiger kids who devote all of their free time to school, but dropping out of high school or making no effort to pursue higher education should not be a thing.

I’d agree with that. If the Mexican-American community has blind spots it’s on education and what they do with their women. But those blind spots come with such positives on the flip (strong dedication to trades / work that is high ROI in terms of learning costs to dollar made, and strong, unambiguous family units) that it’s a net positive.
