Alicia Keys has no talent and is soulless now?
:dahell:

I’ve seen her live years ago and shyt was incredible. Easily one of the best shows I been to and I’ve been to a lot

She lacks soul and conviction in her music, it is quite apparent. I listen to a Mary J. song and I am there in the lyrics with her....an AK song is like listening to elevator music, pleasant to listen to, but no heart...

Still nothing on when he destroyed beyonce

Imagine Rick being alive right now with a sound mind. I'd love to hear his take on Mumble rap, Lil Nas X, KPOP and just random artist like Summer Walker. These emotionally triggered 2000 babies would be ready to commit that when Rick get at em.

Exactly....

And hell, I'm not gonna lie. I actually thought back then and still think shes lesbian or at least bisexual. Shes very butch, masculinish. Even the whole "sex symbol" shyt they tried to push to the straight male audience seems inauthentic as fukk. I don't think shes into guys.

Who was she linked to before swizz beats anyway?
Breh... I'm 99.9999% sure she's a dyke. It was either 2001 or 2002 when she accepted an award at MTV or the Grammys. .. breh. . The way she walked up to the stage like she had a dikk, acting all thugged out. Her acceptance speech was so hood: "yeah yeah you feel me... shout out to my homies!" :dead:

I didn't even know what a lesbian was back then but I knew for a fact she wasn't into dikk AT ALL. shyt was too obvious. I'm sure that acceptance speech has been wiped out from existence because since then she's done a U-Turn on her image. Clive probably told her to cut that butch shyt out or she'll lose her mainstream appeal.

While I don't exactly agree with his criticisms, we definitely don't hold these newer artists to higher standards and it definitely has an impact on the longevity of the music.

There's songs back in the 70's and 80's I thought were number one hits, that barely made a blip on billboard when I checked...that run circles around all of the shyt coming out now.

And I'm not trying to sound like a cranky old man on his generational divide shyt, but something changed in the early 2000's that made the quality of music tank. Not sure if it's the homogenation of genres, or the influx of electronic and computer music, or the accessibility of music studios or what.

Now that everyone can make a studio in their fukking bathroom, people don't rehearse shyt anymore, they don't practice. They just lay it down and fix it in post-production.

Even industry plants back in the day had talent...this microwave music industry just like everything that is microwave fukking sucks. I can't stand when artists talk about making a whole song in 15 minutes. That shyt is ass...

He's right. Anybody that knows a little something about music or has a good ear knows that alicia keys isnt the musical prodigy as they tried to market her to be when she came out. I been saying this shyt from the jump back in 2001. It's all just marketing, manipulation and just the hype machine tricking the masses that cant think for themselves, not questioning shyt. Rick james knows his shyt because hes a real musician. He wrote his shyt. He composed his own music. He produced his shyt and other peoples music. Alicia keys dont even do that. Yall never heard of alicia keys producing or writing other peoples records because she cant.

What turned me off about her was basically that falling in love record she did. The piano on it is basically someone elses work, a sample and looped. I know I heard that shyt somewhere else before I even heard her record. Then added a beat machine to that shyt and there it is. Its manufactured bullshyt that was being pushed like it was Motown or Stevie wonder. She did not compose her shyt and even worse, she CANNOT sing. She is literally straining her voice. Literally. You can hear it. I knew from the jump that she was a gimmick ass fraud and never fukked with her music ever. I wont even get into her performances. I remember seeing her on video music box when her performance was so bad that she had to resort to playing marj j's real love to keep the crowd alive.

Prince said the same shyt about beyonce too because she is basically the same shyt. He was working with her and she didnt even know what an octave was. See Prince, Rick James, Stevie and the legends know their shyt as its shown in the music so if you put them next to an alicia keys and a beyonce. Its an insult to them. They know these folks aren't musicians. They are just put their industry to make money because thats what the music business has became. Convincing people that someone has musical talent instead of actual merits.

I think @NYC Rebel is the only person i know that basically broke that shyt down perfectly. He did it way back on hamster.

You sound fukking stupid, Alicia Keys was hip hop/R&B that's why she used samples like that song produced by Kanye, which was fire

Just because she plays piano doesn't mean she has to do it on every song

and also you making shyt up, you if really believe Beyonce doesn't know what an octave is, you lying to yourself or the sake of lying and you making up shyt Prince said

Because every made music back then, people laugh at everybody being a rapper, but its a lot of rappers only few can rap

back then everybody could sing great, everybody could play instruments, everybody could dance, black people had soul, the competition was higher.

Today there is no talent in the hood, all the culture has been stripped from the hood, nothing but ignorance

no good music comes from the hood, when that use to be the source, the church is no longer big in black culture, that is where most people learned how to sing and play etc

Breh, I remember her rollout. She actually had out some song called girlfriend before that falling in love shyt. Her image was completely different than that shyt. She was trying to be hip hop and it got NO buzz. Then they did that piano shyt and did that contemporary urban shyt and it sold.

And I'm not making shyt up, that beyonce octave shyt with prince was way back like in the early 2000s when I was in high school. Certain things you just hear through the grapevine if you dig what I'm saying.

It wouldn't surprise me especially considering its Clive Davis himself is bi anyway. Theres a lot of folks in the music industry that are lgbtq yet they stay trying to silence folks on some homophobia shyt or hide it when it's as clear as day. I guess not to scare the homophobic public which makes sense. It's funny seeing how they'll have their beards and all. Swizz just with her to further his career. Hes probably still with mishonda or whatever her name is.

As a gay man, I agree about not outing people who aren't out but I dont get why some folks hide the obvious like luther vandross. Eventually people are gonna put two and two together. I'm speaking as someone who's been there myself. That closet, denying shyt is a job. Eventually you gotta clock out and go home. Doesn't make sense to waste your youth, 20s, 30s hiding. Think it would actually help others who are looking for inspiration and courage but I get it. It comes at a price in a homophobic world. She was willing to sacrifice her personal life for fame and money which sucks.

Obviously theres a lot of lgbtq folks in the art world so it would make sense.

Everyone back then thought she was fire cause she would play a little Fur Elise during shows....she was a novelty, a pseudo-lite brite that

A little 5 year-old could play that...

Everytime she has a feature, they outshine her quickly...."Fire We Make" is a good example, Maxwell was going ham on that track....AK was whispering and straining to keep up...

The most annoying thing about her performances is when she pretends to be hood, "Chea...that's right"....

If Alicia came out in the 60s, she would barely make the opening act at a poetry slam....

I could be mistaken but I swear her debut album was supposed to be called something else but they changed the name to Songs in A Minor right before it was released to market the album a certain way. Could be why the songs on the album are not in A minor :yeshrug:

I think she was linked to her former song writer.
