The local liqour store I go to here in MD said they get a bottle maybe once a month and it goes quickly. He said it's not worth the hype or price and is similar to Elijah Craig or Old Forrester. He said the same thing with Buffalo Trace, which is selling way over the MSRP beause of demand. I've had a bottle of Buffalo Trace and while it's good, it's not +$30 or more better than Elijah, Forrester, or Makers.
Makers and Forrester is trash.

Elijah a good bottle.

Buffalo trace ok at 39 a bottle even tho it's overpriced there but not the typical 50$ scene in MD.

But if u talking walking in a store and it's available I'd go Woodford WHEAT or Four Roses small batch.

Buffalo trace is selling $90 here. I'd rather spend a little more and get scotch at that price point.

Makers and Forrester are decent for mid shelf (never heard them called trash but this is the Coli :lolbron:). Four roses was okay. Elijah is a good bottle. I've had Woodford in the past, nothing stood out that made me want to buy it again. Just bought 1792 to try it and I think it's a good bottle. Gonna be going to the store again this weekend, any recommendations?

Buffalo Trace and Weller SR are what you generally get if you're at the end of the line. I've even seen Weller SR at a store 3 days after the allocation day. Weller $22 and BT is $25, which is crazy to some people but I did see BT in S. Beach for $25

I'm a barrel proof/cask strength convert. That higher proof really makes a difference for the better.

I still need to try Larceny Barrel Proof but I can't find it anywhere in stores around here. Gonna have to buy it online.
If you’re ever in NC or SC the Larceny Barrel Proof is still in stock at a lot of stores. The A122 is a top 3 pour I’ve had all year & I heard the B522 is even better.

Don't own a bottle of Laphroaig anymore. And by better I assume you mean even more peaty :unimpressed:

I'm probably never going to get another bottle of Laphroaig. If I'm going peaty, I'd get something like Oban 14 or Talisker 10 which aren't as aggressive.

Picked up a bottle of 1792. One of the better bourbons I've tried recently

It's not as peaty, imo and the flavor is better; a lot smoother.

I'm out in Washington. I've only seen it once in the wild and it was marked up. Combined with our tax of about 20% on liquor, I passed.
