Id take a 14 yr glenlivet over the 18 yr Macallan. 14 is finished in cognac barrels and compliments the scotch nicer.

18 Macallan is good tho.
Comes down to preference..ive had both. Macallan 12 is more along the Glenlivet 14 comparison ..18 to me tastes smoother and just is better quality alcohol than the other 2 imo but you can't go wrong with any choice of the 3

I'm close to finishing a bottle of Willet 4 Year Rye. I wasn't a fan at first so I don't know if the bottle opened up or if I finally adjusted to the spiciness of the Rye taste, but I like it quite a bit now. :ehh:

I just entered all the Pappy and BTAC lotteries for Idaho. If I win one, I'm making the drive over to pick it up. :lolbron:

Good thread cuz I found a whiskey sour recipe with pineapple juice and squeezed lemon juice and I used one of my folks old whiskeys they had and shook that shyt up and poured over ice and I loved that.

Tried a couple more recently. I thought Willett was a pretty good rye whiskey but Barrell Seagrass is much better, imo. I read a lot of hype about Seagrass and in my experience, the hyped bottles are really hit or miss. Seagrass is legit though. Definitely recommended if you like ryes.

The other hyped bottle I tried was the newest Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series release. I got both bottles but have only popped BRT-01. My initial impression is it's wildly overrated. Not a bad sip but not what it's been talked up to be. Maybe it'll open up and get better with time but I think I liked Maker's Mark 46 Cask Strength better than this off the initial impression.

Did a whiskey tasting event a few weeks ago and left with a new appreciation for bourbon/whiskey/scotch. I def recommend attending one if you can because its a great networking opportunity as well. I met a couple guys who showed me their collection at home and sheesh....its def a rich man's hobby collecting diff spirits. Them along with the event coordinators, motivated me to step my game up and expand my palate. I been on the Buffalo Trace brands lately and copped a bottle of E.H Taylor small batch and Benchmark Full Proof

Larceny Barrel Proof C922. Cracked my bottle open to see what the hype was about. This is another really good one that lived up to its billing. Not as easy to find as Elijah Craig Barrel Proof but if you can find it for its listed $60 retail price, definitely worth trying.

man... the game has completely changed. Profile wise-they aren't touching BTAC from even 6 years ago. I hope you scored!

I used to get 6+ bottles a season, even had places holding them for me. Then the internet made things out of control and the taters took over. Got me entering raffles and shyt. Now that it's been all Heaven Hill mash for a while, I may try to scrounge something up and see what these recent releases are about. I still have plenty of single malt on deck, thank god for that. Just finished an Aberlour A 'Bunhadh Batch 32 (around 2009 bottling). Superb.
