you folk still ain't getting it - yes there's groups that have had more impact and influence than outkast, but their impact and influence is largely unheralded..... more so an influence that is relevant in the artists and the sound of today.. kanye, bob, drake, kid cudi, big krit etc etc...

no group has the balance of outkast:

albums>>>>
mc skillset>>>>>
longevity >>>>
impact>>>>
artistically >>>
commercial success>>>
musicality >>>>
progression >>>>
subject diversity >>>
influence >>>>

and i ain't paying no mind to folk who say heltah skeltah >>> outkast....

To me, Outkast are the New Age Outlaws of hip-hop. They're dope as a tag team, but they should NEVER be split up. They ain't Edge & Christian. fukk a 3K solo.

I kinda agree with that, they are good as a group but I dont ever want to hear anything like speakerboxx and love below again...

:what:

"Speakerboxxx" had some great songs on it. "The Love Below" was terrible.

nikka said Heltah Skeltah >>Outkast.

thats a much more realistic debate than outkast/wutang.

My theory is that people didn't get the music that Kast and Dungeon Family made that much so they didn't blow up on a very mainstream level like Bad Boy or Death Row but they were still respected and big in the south.

Also all those other acts that were going down to Atlanta to make music and f*ck with Laface for the most part weren't FROM Atlanta so its not the same. Its like a lot of acts moving to LA and NY to get heard when they ain't from there.

And yeah, that's why I say Kast put Atlanta on the map. But at the end of the day, they are GOAT contenders to me for the music they made, not any other reason. Their 1st 3 albums are untouchable. Whether u agree or not, that's a different story.

:usure: thats not a theory. thats an excuse. while we're at it, lets talk about how loon was so far ahead of his time as well.:takedat:

the artists that i mentioned by name are from atlanta. and regardless, l.a. reid was at the center of that scene and then along came outkast who were HIS rap priority.

its not about whether or not i agree. im not into soley pushing my personal opinions. theres a number of goat contenders that i really dont care too much for. but when they get brought up in all-time elite arguments, i have to respect it. outkast isnt on that level man. theyre just not. and judging by the arguments that you guys are putting up, i get the feeling that deep down, you people dont think that they belong in the class that you put them in either.

those albums really werent even that important when they came out, so how could they possibly be untouchable? theyre not even undisputed classics. the only one you could make a case for is their debut. the other 2 are basically personal classics to their fans. i undertstand that outkast is a huge deal on the internet. i truly do. but its just not going down like that home-slice.

your dumbass can;t see that kanye, bob, drake, kid cudi, big krit aint influenced by outkast?

im too old to be indulge in name-calling with you young cats.
and you misinterpreted my use of smilies. in other words, what im saying is "YUCK". is this really what youre hanging your hat on? and theres plenty of groups that had much more influence over today's rap scene. but i see where this is going, so i might as well get ready to cash out of here soon.

^and theres plenty of groups that had more influence over this current era of artists than outkast. so i dont see your point. theyre not even one of the most influential groups from the south.
