somewhat. but theyre really not the 1st rappers from atlanta to blow up, and atlanta didnt really matter like that until trap music blew up.

Who blew up in Atlanta before Kast then? On that level?

And between Kast and Goodie Mob they were getting a lot of props and respect in the early 90s. They were doing something fresh and different from day 1.

Maybe the rest of the world didn't catch on until the Trap Music era but every artist from Atlanta that came after Kast has been influenced by them. And they have been well recognized and respected in most of the south since they 1st came out.

all that is good but what youre saying isnt enough for them to be seen as goat contenders. thats all im saying.

and its not that the rest of the world didnt catch on until trap music. its just that what the dungeon family & others were doing just wasnt popular enough. lets not sit up here and act like the dungeon family was some sort of super-independent faction. they had one of the biggest machines in black music behind them from day one. people were well-aware of them. it just didnt blow up on THAT level. nobody was sleeping on them. theyre just not THAT TEAM.

as for your 1st question. that statement i made in my previous post was very vague due to rushing. what i meant to say was that atlanta was already seen as the place to be in black music and people were going down there to get record deals. with that said, there were huge acts such as ABC, kriss kross, etc coming out of atlanta. jermaine dupri was already darn near a household name as a producer. but yes, outkast were the 1st group that were "taken seriously". so in that sense, they put atlanta hip-hop on he map. sure.

My theory is that people didn't get the music that Kast and Dungeon Family made that much so they didn't blow up on a very mainstream level like Bad Boy or Death Row but they were still respected and big in the south.

Also all those other acts that were going down to Atlanta to make music and f*ck with Laface for the most part weren't FROM Atlanta so its not the same. Its like a lot of acts moving to LA and NY to get heard when they ain't from there.

And yeah, that's why I say Kast put Atlanta on the map. But at the end of the day, they are GOAT contenders to me for the music they made, not any other reason. Their 1st 3 albums are untouchable. Whether u agree or not, that's a different story.

Not the best in my opinion. Great group and I can see why people would say they are their favorites.
