The whole time the way u were talking about Kast was very demeaning IMO. Like u weren't giving them respect that is due.
But anyway, I don't wanna talk about it anymore. Let's leave it at that.
And at least I agree with you on Hey Ya. It wasn't a hip hop record and it wasn't an Outkast record. Outkast fell off to me around that time but their 1st 3 albums can go against any other classic hip hop album in my eyes.
again, what did i say about them was demeaning, other than my comment on "the whole world"?
i gave them the respect that their due. i even went out of my way to say that theyre apart of the upper echelon of rap duos. but in terms of groups? no way. it seems that youre getting upset over the fact that i refuse to place in them in the same standing of groups like run dmc, nwa, public enemy, etc. they dont deserve that type of recognition. you have to earn it. theres groups that i feel are better than outkast that im a fan of, yet i would never place them in a goat argument either. its called being subjective.
whether you think hey ya is a hip hop record or not is irrelevant. bigger internationally means bigger internationally. you're reserved why? you think the folk that started listening to outkast when stankonia dropped are the ones pushing for them to be in the goat category.... unbelievable.
so two pieces of material equals >>>> everything over outkast? you ain't gonna weigh up lyrics, impact, progression, careers....
wacky d logic.
i dont think, i know that the majority of the people that push for them to be hailed as goats are either casual fans or young fans. and im also privey to the fact that most of the young fans that are pushing for this, are on the internet, which is a place that ive been accustomed to as far back as the mid-1990s, when outkast was in their prime. i think your best bet is to go back to claiming that im wacky d at this point brotha-man.
i didnt say 2 pieces of material. i said i could continue on but the point was already made. and as for your list, the only thing that i can agree with is that outkast had more success than mobb deep. although, thats not really a big deal seeing that outkast was designed for mainstream success from the door while mobb deep was designed for the exact opposite. also, im baffled as to how any rapper can have a greater subject matter than another rapper. your bias is shining bright in this thread right now.
what gets me is, this thread has the term "greatest group" in the title, and we're sitting here comparing 2nd & 3rd ballot acts against each other.
