your dumbass can;t see that kanye, bob, drake, kid cudi, big krit aint influenced by outkast?

jay z nas biggie pun cam kanye clipse werent influenced by wutang? and lol @ big chameleon krit. i listened to his old no limit tapes lol

u just named the softest rappers in rap and dude is proud..:pacspit:

im a stan but this thread (and organized noise one) is a blatant piece of stannery of ELE proportion. im actually reading outkasts taking risks when outkast is essentially the most musically accessible group listed in this thread. does that mean there better cause my mom could listen to it and not think twice?:sadbron: ive never seen a hip hop artist making blatant commercialized music get so much props for it (wait... yes i have... with jay>nas in public opinion... but everyone knows the truth )

using hey ya's international play as a reason to be the best RAP group but ignoring all other groups accomplishments.:what:

outkast was one of the first groups from atlanta but to say THEY blew up atlanta is such a fukking reach. other groups were based coming up at the same time whether RnB or hip hop. they were signed to an atlanta label that also had TLC which blew the fukk up. dudes talking like atlanta to outkast is compton to nwa or staten island to wu tang.

i see outkast as the apex of this generations black music - the pinnacle. this generation's duke ellington. miles davis. prince. you know thats how i view outkast.

cant change this thinking though. :scusthov:. i really enjoy outkast. but i grew up on hardcore hip hop of wu tang mobb deep onyx nas and biggie and when i want that 'softer' shyt, ill go for de la over kast 5/7 days a week.

in fact, de la and kast have about equal catalogs, similar vibes... what makes outkast that much better than de la who has a history of consistancy and cutting edge music. all you can say is mainstream success, which as we see today dont mean shyt without the impact.

id liek to see what everyone got to say about de la soul >>> outkast

uhhh... its not metal (or whatever pantera is) and smoked out marley shyt... its hip hop... versus hip hop:gladbron:

yeah but to those who prefer east coast hardcore hip hop they are obviously going to be biased towards that. those who prefer soulful down south hip hop are gonna be biased towards that. thats the point i was making. it's still the same thing. i like all the artists mentioned in this thread i just can't wrap my head around comparing them like they're at all similar.

Who else from Atlanta would u give that title to? TLC don't really count in my book, they were hip hop but had more of an R&B vibe and u also can't say that TLC is better than Kast.

I think Outkast did put Atlanta on the map when it comes to hip hop but there were others coming out around that time that put in work too, like Goodie Mob for example.

soso def/laface is the reason atlanta became atlanta... TLC was a part of that. Laface put out accessible music, made mad money... Atlanta popped. i cant give that to outkast alone. kriss kross/arrested development all had success in atlanta before outkast

So So and Laface are record labels tho, not musical acts.

Obviously the record labels can make or break a city cause they bring out a lot of talent and opportunity. Like in big cities like NY and LA, people go there just to be heard.

Kriss Kross were one hit wonders I don't take em serious but I will give u arrested development. Outkast seemed to have had a way bigger impact and more success than AD tho.

In my eyes Outkast take the title. Outkast is to good Atlanta hip hop what NWA was to Compton, etc.

So so def is a sellout, R&B label that dressed up Outkast as rappers to capitalize on the cash cow.

Just so happens they were extremely talented.
