Napster had rare shyt because it was p2p...if someone had it in their folder you could download it. I remember downloading snippets of speakerboxx/the love below years before it came out...it felt like I was gonna have the FBI kick down my door at times.

Everything since have just been rank amateurs. Back in the Napster heydays ('99 and '00), there wasn't ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING, that you couldn't find on Napster. I'm talking rare radio edits, singles with a vocal or two changed, rare b-sides, retail maxi singles, and oddball shyt like the "Barney and Friends Orgy" which I've never been able to locate since.

*types in song, gets thousands of results* :ahh:

Just imagine if Napster made that transition to movies, apps and games. :wow: I'm glad the fukking music industry crashed after they crippled Napster. The artists were speaking out against it, talking about it cutting into their profits and now the whole industry is fukked. Record sales are :scusthov:

We don't eat, you don't eat fukkers. :pacspit:

The internet pre 2006 was an amazing place. RIP Napster. :to:
Not true.

now i will say this, right up to the point napster start catching a little heat from the RIAA etc. when Audio galaxy hit. the combination of doing a napster search then an audio galaxy search for music. was insane. when i say you could find ANY thing. i mean ANYYYYYYYY thing between those two. especially when it comes to music. for a beat maker, it was :noah: you could find any sample any original song from any era from the beginning of music known to mankind. it was that ridiculous. and even beyond the bootlegging of music. once i got off of that tip. i hated when they killed both of those sites cause i now have to do all kinds of searches for obscure samples and you might get lucky, and you might not. there has not be anything like it.

because of those two sites, i almost got rid of my old tapes/CD's from the 90's. there was no need for them if all you had to do was go on there and find it in perfect quality.

It was truly :ahh: the first time I realized how it worked

Soulseek was the absolute truth tho. Being able to browse through peoples entire music collection and fukkin grab like, all of it, in one click was :damn:

We have it pretty good now, with all the hosting sites, blogs and private torrents. Still, downloading a single mp3 in high quality isnt easy as it was then.

this is true. people were not hip to the game. a fool like dr dre if he was up on napster like that back then . would left his computer on all day long with his entire drive open for any one to search and ravish thru it. a lot of the first "my song just leaked" stuff started.

I still got the very first CD I burned off all Napster downloaded tracks.

First song ever downloaded off Napster was The Outsidaz "The Rah Rah".

I used to DL like 30 songs and leave my comp on over night only to wake up in the AM to see only 4 of them bytches finished. :sadcam:

I remember when I first got a CD burner and I tried to download as many songs as I could after school till when I went to bed so I could burn a CD. I think I downloaded like 4-5 full songs in like 6-7 hours lol. I burned a CD anyways.

I still remember burning a CD with a 2x burner. shyt would take like 20-30 minutes. Those were the days when if you dared looked at your computer wrong you'd get an error and a fukked up write. :damn:
:why:

I remember my dad and I would take turns burning CDs and just stare at the progress bar in anticipation like

 this was me. I'd leave the room, cover the screen, all types of shyt. I didn't get a cd burner till I think Christmas 2003, I used AIM people songs and have them burn me cd's too, in 9th/10 grade. I know I'm not the only on here who made a lil money when 'Get Rich Or Die Trying' leaked. I hooked someone up with the tracks and they made the cd's.

Funny to think a lot of us have been on the internet, with this music shyt for ten plus years. And I agree Napster had rare shyt, but cd quality was another story. You could download a song 5x trying to find decent quality.

Finally someone speaking the truth. Audio galaxy was the GOAT. Sites like Napster, kazaa, bearshare, and lime wire were filled with viruses and mislabeled shyt all the time. You'd click a file saying it was one song and it'd be something else completely different. With Audio galaxy I had it installed on my work computer, school CPU, and home computer. I had a T3 connection at work and would start downloading 20-30 albums a day from there and by the time I got home they were on my PC. Those satellite proxys were the shyt and I could listen to whatever I downloaded on all 3 CPUs. Nothing was fukking with it. I even remember people from SOHH had their own little room sharing all kinds of shyt. I specifically remember getting that first Lil Wayne Sqad Up Vol. 1 cd and 50 cents Guess Who Back before he blew up from there and tons of other shyt.

Mirc was cool but a pain in the ass to get it started and working. That shyt would literally have you go blind from the constant scrolling and those wack ass codes you had to put in to get a download. But #hiphopalbums and #RapMp3s were the rooms that had a gang of shyt. I did eat good from the VLS and CDS files they had on there. I have about 50 gigs?

What y'all know about albums being released back in 98 in Real Audio format on angelfire sites downloading the RA files and converting them to mp3s using stream box ripper and then burning it to cd. Yea I'm a vet
