The Bruised Ego of Dumb B*tches
i wouldn't have a big music collection if it wasn't for that era because i wasn't into downloading full albums song by song off p2p and then trying to properly tag it and shyt fuk that

See, i can never, ever allow anyone else to tag my music. I go 100% obsessive with making sure everything is accurate, stripped of all the bullshyt, with a quality cover & good replay gain data embedded (and a cue sheet if applicable).

DISCLAIMER: I buy a gang of music every month, sometimes every two months.

Finally someone speaking the truth. Audio galaxy was the GOAT. Sites like Napster, kazaa, bearshare, and lime wire were filled with viruses and mislabeled shyt all the time. You'd click a file saying it was one song and it'd be something else completely different. With Audio galaxy I had it installed on my work computer, school CPU, and home computer. I had a T3 connection at work and would start downloading 20-30 albums a day from there and by the time I got home they were on my PC. Those satellite proxys were the shyt and I could listen to whatever I downloaded on all 3 CPUs. Nothing was fukking with it. I even remember people from SOHH had their own little room sharing all kinds of shyt. I specifically remember getting that first Lil Wayne Sqad Up Vol. 1 cd and 50 cents Guess Who Back before he blew up from there and tons of other shyt.

Mirc was cool but a pain in the ass to get it started and working. That shyt would literally have you go blind from the constant scrolling and those wack ass codes you had to put in to get a download. But #hiphopalbums and #RapMp3s were the rooms that had a gang of shyt. I did eat good from the VLS and CDS files they had on there. I have about 50 gigs?

What y'all know about albums being released back in 98 in Real Audio format on angelfire sites downloading the RA files and converting them to mp3s using stream box ripper and then burning it to cd. Yea I'm a vet
Streambox ripper:ahh: I forgot all about that. I used to hate getting them RA files before I found that shyt.

audiogalaxy was also next level...appears nobody used it.
Audio galaxy was my shyt. I don't even know how I found it. I used to be in the ING groups and they would set up offshoot rooms for when a album was about to drop. shyt was amazing

Remember leaving the satellite open all day and coming home to a bunch of spam music someone would send out?

When AG was about to get shut down the groups was giving lessons on how to set up and use Mirc so I was already set when the buildings got crushed.

Now trying to teach my nikkas how to use mirc had me :comeon: while them nikkas was :mindblown:

I remember this broad that spent the night woke me up saying she heard some lady in the living room. I was :rudy: then I heard "DCC transfer complete" and was :win: cause another new album/movie/porn had finished downloading.

Powerful thread. Napster, mIRC, and Direct Connect hubs were legendary. :wow:

My freshmen yr of college (99) i bought a gateway comp n sjsu had installed that t1 ethernet thru the whole school. I had napster and was killin the music game. I use to sit there n try n think of shyt Napster didnt have but it had everything . Then burners got popular and the game was over. I had soooo many burnt CDs. Still have a lot of those cd's actually. That was indeed the birth of the digital music age. Im glad to have been apart of it. youngins will nvr understand.

I'm telling ya. Hell boys don't remember albums being released in RA format only. Way before MP3s became standard and people still had 56k modems. Since RA files were much smaller you could download albums in that format faster and then convert them to mp3s individually. I still remember downloading B.G. Chopper City In The Ghetto like that. There use to be an angelfire site called Bayoufire that had all of the new and old CMR albums.

I remember how I heard about it in the local news. They were saying it had 33,000 users downloading free music, and the next day it was 3 million :heh:

I'm not gonna front when Napster first dropped I was on some :shaq2: I ain't fukking with Napster IMa support the artist type shyt (which was easy at the time cuz I had dial up and shyt took like 30 mins for a song). About a week I was at my aunts house (she had a cable modem) and my family asked me "hey what this Napster thing we are hearing about?" I said u could get music but its kinda wack takes 30 mins blah blah blah. So they said let me see and I go on the computer go to Napster and download a song and when I looked and it said 30 secs I was like :whoo:. (my moms a music junkie like me) She bought a brand new computer and got a cable modem like 2 days later...(all my IMa support the artist morals got thrown in the bushes :birdman:) we were :eat: so well. Then the problem became us battling over usage of the computer, she'd be on that shyt for hours having me looking :noah:. It was a great time :lawd:
