I think Limewire was what I had after Napster, in 2001, forward. I don't even understood how Napster worked, how did they get rare ass freestyles, unreleased demo tracks from 1996 available for download? My concept of technology like that is pretty vague.

I mean, you could find a rare Memphis Bleek and Co D's freestyle over Shyne 'Bad Boyz' in one click....I can't find that shyt anymore to save my life.

When Napster died so too did a lot of rare music. If iTunes had the choice Napster did I would actually pay for music. But it doesn't, and never will.

It's funny you really had to remember Napster to understand the impact. We ate better than we ever ate before and once that started there was no way we would ever go back. It really started the digital revolution. I remember if you got a song in 10-15 minutes was considered pretty good. I remember the rare times I actually downloaded a couple of songs from someone with a T3 connection and the song being done in 4-5 minutes, that was :ahh: status

As a nikka who :eat: good off of napster, DDL crushes it. I loved napster. LOVED it. But you're comparing VHS to blu-ray, breh.

Definitely ground breaking though and much respect must be paid. But that shyt was over 10 years ago. It was bound to get better.

Not like it matters, but y'all should stop throwing that cd site around.

And Napster was straight. I got started on WinMX, then went from there. Audio Galaxy was that crack.

But as far as the GOAT goes? It starts, and ends with OiNK. It was the single greatest collection of music the internet has ever seen. What or Waffles may eventually get there eventually, but man, I was heartbroken when OiNK got popped. :sadiron:

Napster was my shyt. I remember going HAM on wrestling theme songs on there. "D GENERATION X!!!'

Eventually moved on to Morpheus/Kazaa. This is when I started getting into porn. It's strange looking back at it now, but I had friends that didn't have the internet, and they would come over and be amazed at it, and me being able to download porn vids. No homo but I remember a group of us sitting in front of my comp watching this Tera Patrick video where she plays with an ice cube before getting pounded by two johns....

Still, I'll take current speeds, torrents, and filelockers over those programs. I prefer albums, and it was never easy to download full albums offa them shyts. Music would be in different qualities and file formats and shyt....

Invite only? :scusthov:

All these other sites can't compare. Napster was free, open and easy to use. Double click and you were on your way. These new services are choked with ads, downloaders, toolbars and fake links. :pacspit:

There'll never be a site that can compare. After all the copy cat p2p set up shop the music scattered all across the internet. As I said before Napster was like a warehouse. The fukking Costco of p2p sites. If Napster didn't have it it didn't exist.
