Y'all feel this way because push not from a major city with street music backing. No one on this board can name 5 rappers from Virginia other than the clipse.

If Push was from NY(raised), LA Chi..etc this convo wouldn’t even exist

What? How does being from VA handicap him? Just to give give you an example, Magoo is a VA native. Platinum album and gold single. "Bu, bu, he had Timbaland". Of course he did and that's the point. Push had Pharrell AND Kanye.

Lady of Rage is from VA. Skillz is from VA. Missy Elliott is from VA.

Nobody you mentioned is regarded as an elite mc or even have the skills set that Push displays as an mc.

If you watched his assets over liabilities interview Push mentions the Virginia talent but the issue was that they had to outsource themselves and they couldn’t establish their career in Virginia which is why is new label is Virginia based.

Virginia doesn’t have a loud voice matter of fact those artists you mentioned barely mention Virginia in their songs.

A million + voices from NY can tell you what Jay-Z is dope and why we should listen to him, Californians can do the same with Snoop. This ain’t the case in the V.

Pusha was always a rappers favorite rapper. He was never meant to be mainstream pop like that. producers love having guys like that rap on their beats cause Kanye and pharrell just liked the music. Just cause they were super producers doesnt mean that they dont have personal favorites they would work on regardless of album sales. Pusha is in that lane.

Ray Daniels thinking like an record exec and A&R and not like a music fan. Pharell and Kanye and a lot of producers are still music fans first.

Agreed. Pusha and Clipse were these producers “passion-projects”.

It’s like Ralph Lauren doing the RRL brand for certain smaller demo, it was never meant to compete with Polo from numbers perspective. In fact, he probably loses money on it but just loves the aesthetic.

It doesn't matter whether they are elite MC's or not. What's funny is one of them, Missy Elliott, was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. First female rapper to do it. Two of the all time greatest producers are from Virginia (Timbaland, The Neptunes). It's New York MC's who sustained and extended their runs by working with VA producers. Snoop Dogg got a complete musical makeover working with The Neptunes. He scored his first #1 with them. You sound crazy.

Pusha T would have a valid argument, if Clipse was produced by DJ Premier or Dr. Dre. No, they came out with The Neptunes repping Virginia. This isn't like Lady Rage, who is from Virginia, but came up under Death Row appearing on West Coast songs and people thought she was from Cali and not VA. That was NEVER the case with Clipse.

And just to give you an example of the double standard regarding Pusha T: Slim Thug's Already Platinum was considered a flop. Why? It was helmed by Pharrell and he had a feature from Jay Z. This was at a time when Houston was huge. Album made the least noise out of all of the big Houston releases that year. It ain't go gold until a few years ago.

You just don't agree with what I'm saying even when hit with facts. That's on you.
Nope you have a skewed view point and you just don’t understand the mechanics and the root of hip hop being a street art form of expression and how it echoes through the people.

I notice you knock the mainstream accolades Pusha has.

Y’all to worried about what Katy and Olivia
Wants to listen to.

Breh, there are plenty of street artists who still made music that was palatable to the mainstream. I gave three examples: T.I., Jeezy, and Ross. There's 2Chainz. As already stated in this thread, given that Push had Kanye and Pharrell on the boards, he still never moved or shifted the culture as a solo artist even removing the numbers.

When did Push come out solo?
What was the trendy sound then ?
What has Ross or Ti done to shift the culture ?

Pusha drake diss alone shifted the culture majorly.

Push solo debut dropped in 2013. The trap sound was the trend.

T.I. ushered in trap music or specifically trap rap on a mainstream level. Jeezy and Rick Ross were the evolution of that sound sonically.

How exaclty did Push's diss to Drake shift the culture? It was a big moment, yes. What exactly did it change though?

T.I just coined the word trap he ain’t have no trap sound
:camby:

Jeezy and Gucci shifted that ,Ross just rode the wave.

Push’s diss took down the face of the culture and officially put the the nail in the coffin in his bid of being the greatest ever. Your boy is the face of the culture so the moves he made after that was that indirec/direct cause.. whether it’s business deals or music collabs ..etc..
