I like both the NFL AND NBA

But the NBA doesn’t have that player or players today that even casuals would turned to watch … Golden State as a team was a team casuals would watch, but everyone is getting older and they run is coming to a end .. Lebron is basically on his last leg and these new players and how the game is today is really not that interesting to watch especially in December

NFL wise there’s no competition

Fans don't really argue about fukking Sam Howell and Jalen Hurts lol.... It's Washington and Philly. Will always be a rivalry. Fans will always care.

Fans don't argue about Goff and Cousins. It's the Vikings and Lions. Will always be a rivalry.

NBA chose to put players above teams and it cost them.
Good point

Some of the NFL commentators may be old-timers who won't pull punches, but I'd argue they're better than many NBA announcers who don't stop their shilling.

  • Player __ makes flashy moves -> gets basket :obama:
  • Next time foul baits.
  • Next time bricks pull-up 3
  • Makes flashy moves -> doesn't get by defender -> foul baits and gets whistle on brushed contact
  • Next time foul baits and gets whistle on brushed contact and is on the floor waiting to get picked up by teammates.
    • Announcer: "Yup. Looks like there's contact there."
    • Reggie: "As a player that will definitely throw off your shot. I've been there before when they glance your non-shooting hand like that."
  • Hits logo three, does almost 10+ year-old cooking celebration.
    • Doris: " You know __ is SUCH a GOOD player."
    • NBA Twitter: "So efficient. 11 points on 3 shots"
At some point during an NBA game you can definitely hear casuals hit the :comeon:

They need someone out there who understands the game but keeps it completely real because they are too much in the opposite direction.

Why don't they draw on the screen and breakdown the action anymore? If so, I rarely see it.

I don't know any straight man who don't watch the NFL in some capacity. No cap. They might not be die hard fans but they watching to some degree.

If a breh tell me they don't follow football at all I'm ending the conversation ASAP. They most likely some against the grain fakkit and I ain't got time for that

Final Numbers

Christmas Day ratings:

NBA: 14.6 Million

Knicks-Bucks: 2.5M
Warriors-Nuggets, 4.1M
Lakers-Celtics, 5M
Heat-Sixers, 1.2M
Mavs-Suns, 1.3M

NFL: 86 Million

Raiders-Chiefs, 29.5M
Giants-Eagles, 29.3 M
Ravens-49ers, 27.2M

*Dolphins/Cowboys: 30 M (Christmas Eve)

Well, looks like Lakers/Celtics is still the most popular matchup in the NBA as far as causal viewers. And still the Eagles/Giants slaughtered it in the same timeslot across the Country. Warriors/Nuggets came in 2nd. Both games had Lebron and Steph who are the NBA biggest draws at the moment. SMH @ everything else. I mean 76ers/Heat didn't have Embiid or Jimmy. Mavs and Suns and Knicks and Bucks just didn't move the needle as the other two though the Knicks/Bucks game almost did 3 Million. As for the NFL, they had 3 matchups just right for Christmas as far as markets, fan bases, rivalries, playoff standings etc. They also had the Taylor Swift hype and double broadcast with Nickelodeon so they got the Kids and girls too. Also don't forget Dolphins/Cowboys did big number on Christmas Eve and then Bills and Chargers from Saturday. The NFL easily cleared over 140 Million Viewers this Holiday Weekend (Sat/Sun/Mon). These numbers show me we will have an NFL Christmas Game next year on Wednesday for sure.

I’ll keep it a buck. I didn’t watch any of the NBA Christmas games this year lol. The playoffs are dope but the NBA regular season is completely irrelevant.:manny:

Even less irrelevant with the play-in. Look at the West standings, the urgency would be crazy if there were only 8 seeds. Lakers, Suns, Warriors would all be out and need to make moves to get that last spot. Now 2/3 will likely make it even if they all half ass it the rest of the year

Once Bron and Steph are gone the NBA might be reverting back to the pre-Magic/Bird days

This should keep Adam Silver and the NBA owners up at night.

Who is the next marketable American NBA star after Steph and LeBron? American basketball fans don't connect with foreign players like that, the heir's to the throne Zion and Ja have been a massive disappointment for various reasons, Jayson Tatum is pretty good, but he's hasn't proven to be a needle mover, men's college basketball isn't capturing the public's attention like women's college basketball is right now and the paying customer has pretty tuned out NBA regular season ball in mass.

It's going to be very interesting to see where the NBA is by 2030
