Brehs:

At what point should you start adding weight to pull-ups?

I can go 5 sets 10-12 reps on sets 1-4 and 7-9 for the last set.

Are these 10-12 pumped out fairly quick or are you going slow and deliberate and getting a full stretch from top to bottom and maybe even employing negative resistance?

That makes a big difference, because if you are just going quick to get your numbers up I dont think 10-12 is enough to need to add weight. But if you are doing them 'bodybuilding style' then I would add 15 lbs based on personal experience.

I would say slow and deliberate enough where I am trying to feel the contraction through the movement and not utilize other muscles more than needed

In that case, I would definitely try and add 10,15, or 20 pounds and see how many you can do. My guess is 8-9 with 10-15 lbs., 20 lbs might be too much for you to start.

Are you doing chin-ups too? If you are doing 10-12 slow pull ups, you almost definitely need to add weight to your chin-ups unless you are one of those weirdos who does less of them than pull ups.

@The ADD I would start with a very small dumbbell... like the 3rd lightest you can get and just work up from there. Better to start too low than to start too high. I wouldn't start with 10-15 as you'll hit a brick wall very soon.

I started off at 8lb got up to 15lb. I could do the reps but the move has become more jaggedy and aggressive so i'm going back down to ramp back up. I've put on about 10lb on this buck which i'm sure hasn't helped with the pull ups.

The bulk ends in 3-5 weeks and I'm looking forward to it. 2 weeks tryna find that maintenance and coming off creatine then the last couple weeks in April we begin that cut. By June I should be :ehh: by July/August :shaq::banderas:

^^^Main reason I started at 10lb was because I have a vest that weighs that. But come to remember the transition, yeah 5-8 lbs might have made more sense

3-4 sets of front squats prior to back squats really helps my hip flexibility issues. I was able to hit 315 on back squats with decent depth 5 times on Monday

:ehh: might try this with some lower weight, but I can never get used to the bar positioning for front sqauts.

Did weighted dips/pullups for the first time in months, my left shoulder is :deadrose:
