I don’t know why I do so many lol

But you’re probably right about the workout routine. I guess I do the same shyt because I don’t know that many ways to exercise :manny:
You're falling into the same trap that most fall into includimg myself. You probably came from an athletic background and as a result cause you have "strength" in certain movements you are under the illusion that you know how to "train".

There is a big difference between being able to "lift weights" being scatter gun choosing exercises cause you feel like it and "training" with a structured program. Once you begin to umderstand this, the issues will reduce

Brehs do you go on long rest periods? I’m in the gym 3-4 days out of the week. Obviously I try to spread out the sessions by going out to the gym one day then resting the next before I go back, but my body has been feeling like it needs longer rest days than usual.

I’m going to go to the gym today even though I still feel somewhat sore/heavy in certain areas of my body. I haven’t been there since Thursday so I should be good. But I can’t stop thinking about this tweet I read from former WWF/WWE wrestler Taz and basically he was advising everyone to give their body the proper rest it needs to omit any long-term issues. Taz reflected all the times he went hard af in the gym when he was tired/sore and now he can barely move his body.

How do you guys approach rest? It’s essential to building muscle anyway.

I got tired at looking at answers on Reddit and other gym sites where the typical answer was 2-3 days rest.
No I train Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday pretty much religiously
If I'm tired I just scale one of those days back maybe 10% weight load.

If I'm super tired, I'll scale a whole week back. But if you scale and pace your training properly day-to-day week-to-week, you should never really get all that tired. Some of that comes w/ experience.

Like for example I notice a drastic difference in my deadlift if I Squat Monday and Deadlift Wednesday. compared to Squat Monday and Deadlift Thursday. Like maybe 15-20% performance because my legs/back need that extra day to be back up to peak output.

Need to focus on strength. Worried so much about reaching a target weight and physique. Achieved that goal but now I wanna be moving hella plates
Your goal is your goal.

I would just say...if training is a lifelong pursuit, the strength will come over time. Be careful about lifting heavy weights for the sole purpose of lifting heavy weights. Especially if you want to do so quickly.

It's like they say about the Mr Olympia....the judges look at your body. Nobody cares how much they can lift.

But again, there's nothing inherently wrong with wanting to be strong.

I just hope you don't get hurt or tweak something. Gym injuries are the WOAT.

Good advice. I’m content in the gym with the weight I move, but guess I’m caught up in all the social media bs of it all. Seeing dudes lift insane amounts of weight and stuff. Definitely not trying to get injured and setback.

Doesn’t really matter if I’m benching 400 or 135. Don’t think anyone cares and it won’t make a difference in my life.

I hate a bad workout, but I hate missing a bad workout even more.

Had an impromptu company HH and even when I kept it to a single drink, that drink messed up my orientation in the gym. Couldn’t really lift like I wanted to.

Better that I got in something than nothing though.

Your goal is your goal.

Bolded is the truth. For most, they want to be reasonably strong and look good aesthetically. You can do that without having to squat 500lbs

Net net, on this current trajectory, I should be about 30lbs down this year. Next year I’ll still have a bit more to cut but the main thing is my progress has been sustained over the past 2-3 months.

It’s a lifestyle change but that really started clicking for me from the middle of summer. No more false starts. Cutting tree has definitely been one of the best ways to keep consistent and mindful.

Some travel coming up in October and November but as long I keep having at least 4 workouts a week, keep calm with the liq, I’ll be good. The food quality where I’ll be vacationing is actually better than here in the US.

By end of Q1’25 I should be back to my college weight and most of the heavy lifting will be done (cutting key weight). After that I’ll focus on toning up and maintaining the leaner build for the next decade give or take 5-10lbs fluctuations as most.
