i dont care what planet you're, or what circles you're in, BK Drill was only relevant because Pop Smoke had a label behind him and got pushed to the masses. That NY drill scene is garbage thru and thru.

His sound was new to most (because ppl dont know shyt), but it was a fkin mashup of UK drill and French rap.

oh, and Fivio is trash period.
This nikka is mad as shyt. :dead::umad:

I feel like there has to be a balance just because an artist is underground or lyrical doesn’t mean their shyt was good. JAY elec album was mid for the wait, who the fukk is D Smoke, Royce has never made a Grammy nominated type album except maybe PRhyme

I agree...I’m not impressed with them going full “backpack” with the nominees this time around either

That drill and yodeling crooning sing songy shyt has extended its stay and is so boring to listen to at this point. nikkas is either singing off key doing their best dej lof impersonation backed by auto tune or rapping off beat to boring samey Uk drill beats. Talking about the same topics on every song. Yes I get it, “you’ll have him running like Ricky” if it was up to me, I wouldn’t even have a rap category anymore, you’ll get one again when y’all make better music type shyt :hhh:

I can’t forget generic boring dusty music either. Benny is aight but some of these dusty nikkas y’all be hyping up are straight dull and trash:hhh:

BK drill was hot and relevant to the youth in the tri state before anybody knew who Pop Smoke was.. rappers were getting millions of views for years before he came along he was just the first to have a mainstream hit from the scene and was catapulted from there because he is a special and unique artist who had the talent to transcend drill

and please dont start this "they stole the UK sound" shyt because you have no idea what you're talking about.. DJ L(Chicago producer) fathered the "UK sound" and the only reason their producers got placements in NY is because their shyt sounded like his beats
act like you schooled the coli. DJ L has more versatility than those UK drill niccas. that UK shyt is more samey than anything L produced

BK drill is garbino breh, they stole the UK wave which was stolen and adapted from chicago....we already fukkin know this

keep proving u dont know much:mjlol: NY took the wave from Chicago the same way the UK did and the only similarity they have are using the same producers and thats only because their producers initially uploaded beats titled "G Herbo/DJ L type beat"

aint no nikka in NY bumping UK drill let alone getting inspired by them to copy some shyt, nobody gives a fukk about the UK scene unless it's an NY rapper who wants to expand their fanbase by taking advantage of the UK market because THEY bump NY drill over there and not the other way around

Circles by Mac Miller is better than overrated ass Jay Elec album, why the fukk was that album nominated
Honestly, that album was victimized by the fact that it dropped pre-covid

I'll say what I've always said about Pop Smoke (and BK drill in general)

People think it's fukking amazing when in reality, when it's compared to what they're biting off of, it's ehh. Because Americans are fukking ignorant to UK drill, we think the Fivio Foreign's of the world are doing something out of the box even though he ain't shyt compared to artists like Dave and Headie One.

Pop Smoke had the foresight to at least try something else, but that deluxe was thirty something songs deep. When artists do this deluxe shyt, it's naturally gonna dilute the fukk outta the album, so no, I can't consider Pop's album to be great, or worthy enough of a Grammy nod, though I understand why it should be there if we're gonna compare it to shyt like like Royce's, Jay Elec's and D Smoke's stuff.

Looking at the nominations they gave the singles the recognition they deserved and the complete albums the recognition they deserved.

D Smoke album is dope btw.
that would imply the artist who only got singles didnt have good albums

but rod and baby albums were solid.

Roddy def should at least be on there as his album is better than half the nominations. Only Gibbs album i would put above it.

I fw with Royce, but that "allegory" album was subpar and not good. Concept album, "real hip hop" shyt, etc be damned.

You are not the only one. I did see the potential for growth, but as it stands, he was simply a young OK NY artist that had some mainstream appeal. NY has been desperately trying to find the next young star for so long that over the years they’ve reached for anybody (Desiigner probably the biggest stain) just to say “yea look at us, we back”. As of right now, Cardi B is carrying the mantle for NY mainstream hip hop.

Have we though?

and this year, it's hard to blame old cacs who are normally at the helm at the Grammys. No old white guy is gonna pull Royce Da 5'9'' out of his ass in a nomination discussion. Clearly they have guys there more in tune with the genre nominating stuff (like 9th Wonder, I think MC Lyte is still there). They just went dramatically in another direction. By comparison, none of these snubs will ever be close to how dirty they did Abel. The 2021 Grammys is just gonna end with Taylor Swift winning another album of the year because everyone feels sorry for her dumb ass since Scooter Braun pulled a legendary boss move on her.

Also, it's crazy how people prop up Pop Smoke needing to be nominated because of sales. Juice WRLD sold like a motherfukker and he didn't get nominated for anything.

Dave is not UK drill bro, he’s a UK Kendrick .. and there’s better conscious/ real hip hop albums than those Royce, Jay Elec albums
