We need our own Hip Hop awards show... oh wait we had it but we destroyed it with violence, disrespect, and separation....

So now we are stuck with the Grammys..... :martin:

I low key find it funny as hell that the underground is happy while he commercial artists are pissed......

:russ::lolbron::mjlit:

P.S. Nas for best Rap album of the year....:blessed: :ahh::umad:

He is right about mf's trying to overcompensate for all of that backlash. Going from just picking the most popular shyt to going to the extreme of nothing but dope underground shyt is some troll shyt. When you start reaching wit shyt like D-Smoke, you are effectively trolling.

It's funny watching people trying to elevate Pop Smoke to a level he was never on :mjlol:
Dude has gone double plat on a posthumous album. That’s unheard of

He was a new artist as well.

What other rapper music sold like this after death? People were celebrating Nips life, posting his quotes everywhere on everything and his music didn’t have this type of impact post death

Pop Smoke's impact on hip hop is undeniable, in NY at least. I get why he's upset but it's all subjective with the Grammy's.

I do think it should be considered given they finished an album with the artist being dead. The songs have had a lot of replay value and a significant impact despite all the odds.

You are not the only one. I did see the potential for growth, but as it stands, he was simply a young OK NY artist that had some mainstream appeal. NY has been desperately trying to find the next young star for so long that over the years they’ve reached for anybody (Desiigner probably the biggest stain) just to say “yea look at us, we back”. As of right now, Cardi B is carrying the mantle for NY mainstream hip hop.

Pop Smoke is the biggest artist in NY and he's been for the last 12-15 months. It's not close.

9 months after death he has about 4 or 5 songs in heavy rotation. Cardi's wave has largely died down.

Pop NYC buzz was crazy, his buzz here was almost as crazy as 50 when he dropped Get Rich.

I STAY hearing Pop music being played out of cars in BK.

Off topic, but I just wanted to say that...

Be mad at the Grammys snubbing artists in 2020 brehs; they been garbage

Pac never won a Grammy for best album when should’ve won for MATW in 96.

they gave Fugees the award in 97, but I kinda understand that one
Yeah fukking NBN gold album got the award instead, thankfully Soul Train got it right.

This is very disingenuous. Acting like record label promotion and marketing no longer determines what consumers pay attention to is nonsense. FOH.
Yea that was a very shytty take by dude, radio stations and music video channels don't have the same presence like they did back in the day but there are still ways for labels to force feed music to consumers, its just different channels of distribution now.

Lil Baby’s album has more varied production than Roddy’s. I also don’t get the complain y’all listened to straight boom bap and g-funk top down albums the whole 90’s. :dead:

Humble, We Should, We Paid, Catch the Sun all sound different in terms of instrumentation and musical elements.

Terrible post but fairly common. The 90's and I'd say well up into the mid 00s was full of variety. I think right now is full of variety as well, but the problem is that a lot of current artists either get the same producers, or get producers that try to emulate those same sounds.

Another flab ball regurgitating mid 2000’s message board talking points nobody in NY is looking for a “savior” our scene has been on fire for years

Do you know how many plaques A-Boogie has?

Do you even know who Lil Tjay and JI are?

Do you know who Fivio Foreign is?

Pop Smoke album also had a handful of records that are bumped everywhere not just one. :dead:

Unlike some of the older posters you're attempting to bash, I actually listen to a ton of newer artists to fairly judge them, so yes, I actually do know every one of those artists you listed other than JI, but it's not my problem that those artists aren't very good and you hold them in high regard. You make a lot of terrible posts, and again, this is another one. So, the problem isn't me, the problem is you liking artists that are terrible yet you want them propped up :manny: you may as well get behind Famous Dex and Rich The Kid as well:skip: .

Act like A Boogie ain’t been out for nearly 5 years brehs.

Oh people have said A Boogie was carrying NY? VERY INTERESTING:sas2:

Looking at the nominations they gave the singles the recognition they deserved and the complete albums the recognition they deserved.

D Smoke album is dope btw.
