All i know is Pop smoke is very influential with the drill thing. He started a whole movement outside the US. Everybody doing the same thing he do, the dances etc. I think he deserve something
Pop Smoke did NOT start drill music movement outside the US though

UK cats were doing that drill shyt long before anyone knew who he was in NYC

If anything, that credit goes to Chicago

This is an artist—I’m not saying he started a genre, because he didn’t start drill music— but [Pop] bought drill music to the forefront and made it mainstream.

:mjtf:

So Chief Keef never existed?

I get it that he wants to rep for his boy, but trying to shift the narrative to do so is pushing it.

I said that since Pop Smoke died and the fame he got from the Drill, everybody in France is/was copying him. I know he didn't start Drill, but Drill in France emerged and exploded since Pop Smoke started it. He was the major reason.

Just outta curiosity....why would he get the credit for that and not the U.K., which is closer to them regionally?

We don't listen to UK music like that but it's starting to change slowly. We listen to US music a little bit much than U.K music. I think he get the credit because of course his death, and the push his music got after he died. But I know Dior, Mannequin etc. was kind of popular in France before his death.

the Grammys never honored Tupac fueled artist.
so this is more in line with how they atypically are, were and still are.

Let’s be honest. You know you weren’t that big of a deal when you die and still don’t get the accolades because like Jadakiss said “You know dead rappers get better promotion.” :hubie:
