Because I prefer it how they did it this year, picking albums that had some substance. Pop Smoke was a decent artist with potential for a whole lot more, but that album really fell short. (RIP)

Thats why those types of albums should be reserved for the Billboard and MTV music awards

The only “mainstream” guy that had a legit reason to be in the convo is lil baby. Just ran his album back again yesterday and there is only 2-3 tracks on there that is skippable. And that was on the deluxe version. He did a great job.

I believe I mentioned D smokes album on here... but somebody first text me about it and I listened to his previous project. As far s Pop smoke, his project might’ve been boosted due to his death. It’s not really a Nipsey situation bc he got aGrammy nom prior to his murder.

i'm not sure when the nominations came, but at least nipsey was alive to MAKE the album, rather than what i assume happened for most of pops album is stuff manufactured together for him. and most important victory lap was fukkIN FIRE. nobody gonna say that about pop, they arguing sales lol

You are not the only one. I did see the potential for growth, but as it stands, he was simply a young OK NY artist that had some mainstream appeal. NY has been desperately trying to find the next young star for so long that over the years they’ve reached for anybody (Desiigner probably the biggest stain) just to say “yea look at us, we back”. As of right now, Cardi B is carrying the mantle for NY mainstream hip hop.
