Blu & Exile made a better album than both of them imo, so did Benny The Butcher. D Smoke is talented but feels like a plant with the talent show and this nomination
I don’t think Benny made the Grammy deadline but I could be wrong. I need to listen to Blu & Exile album... I loved the first one. I hope Blu is good mentally

Circles by Mac Miller is better than overrated ass Jay Elec album, why the fukk was that album nominated
I hate to say it, but as a Jay Elect Stan for the better part of a decade this album wasn’t it. Jay being all over it, the terrible mixing... nah man. Dude had 10 years. The last Mac Miller album wasn’t it to me either. The last 3-4 projects before that tho got me to see his talent.

You are not the only one. I did see the potential for growth, but as it stands, he was simply a young OK NY artist that had some mainstream appeal. NY has been desperately trying to find the next young star for so long that over the years they’ve reached for anybody (Desiigner probably the biggest stain) just to say “yea look at us, we back”. As of right now, Cardi B is carrying the mantle for NY mainstream hip hop.

The album just isn’t very good. This years Rap Grammy noms are the best it’s been in ages. Truly represents some of the best rap albums even though there are others I’d prefer. That Pop Smoke album fits more in line with BET Album of The Year with Megan, Dababy, and Roddy Rich. Same thing with MTV Best Hip Hop songs.
Those albums suck :laff:

I can’t speak on D Smoke but the Lil Baby and Roddy albums are mid. I’ll give Roddy credit though for his production being a bit more varied than Lil’ Baby’s, whose album pretty much sounds like one never-ending song.
Lil Baby’s album has more varied production than Roddy’s. I also don’t get the complain y’all listened to straight boom bap and g-funk top down albums the whole 90’s. :dead:

Humble, We Should, We Paid, Catch the Sun all sound different in terms of instrumentation and musical elements.

To be fair I tried to listen to Pop’s album and Lil Baby’s My Turn as those were the top two that people were saying got snubbed. Couldn’t get through either of them. I know that they sold a TON of records but artistically it felt like what alot of these new school rappers are doing. Making 1-2 hit singles and then crafting soundalikes across a 20 song album to get streams. Call me an old head or:flabbynsick: all you want but I can’t fukk with mindless music, endless trap beats, and autotune.

Them kids got nominations for their songs because thats what their good at, making good individual SONGS. They can’t craft ALBUMS to save their lives.

Nas, Royce, Gibbs, Jay Elect, made great ALBUMS. I still have to listen to D Smoke to properly judge him so I won’t speak on him. Royce & Gibbs have been grinding for YEARS and making great music. Hell Gibbs should’ve been nominated last year for Bandana. Jay Elect put out a great project (He loses points from some for relying on Hov for alot of the songs and being outshined on some tracks. But if you can get an inspired and hungry Jay-Z on your project that means your doing SOMETHING right in the first place) Nas, 27 years in the game, put out one the best albums of not only HIS career, but the entire year. They ALL deserve their nominations.

What NEEDS to happen, as i’ve said before, is that the committee needs to petition for additional categories the Rap field. Rock, Country, and R&B have multiple categories and Rap outsells ALL of those genres as of 2017. There needs to be a Best Rap Album as well as a “Best Traditional Hip Hop Album” category. That way the Lil whatevers and the NBA whoseits can be nominated and the more underground focused or lyrical artists can be recognized as well.
U flab balls are really something where u can’t even tell nuance from track to track

Pretty much saying Lil Baby’s albums was 20 We Paid’s and Pop’s was 20 Diors’s

Another flab ball regurgitating mid 2000’s message board talking points nobody in NY is looking for a “savior” our scene has been on fire for years

Do you know how many plaques A-Boogie has?

Do you even know who Lil Tjay and JI are?

Do you know who Fivio Foreign is?

Pop Smoke album also had a handful of records that are bumped everywhere not just one. :dead:

The shyt was wack to me breh:yeshrug: nothing’s going to change that. I’ve told you multiple times that i’m happy being labeled :flabbynsick: if it means I don’t have to be inundated with that trap autotune repetitive bullshyt.

If the academy does the sensible thing and adds another category then all of your “nuanced” drill favorites can get their recognition.

Until then King’s Disease 2021 RAOTY nikka:umad:

Grammys and all of that never really reflected what the streets wanted to hear just a punch of crossover safe pop bullshyt that would likely bore you to sleep.
