For anyone's that been around long enough to remember, Serch has always been known to be a liar and mad shady on the business side of things.
O.C. and Nas had issues with him early on in their careers because he was taking money that should've gone to them. Russell Simmons had issues with Serch for trying to do sneaky sh*t with contracts, when Serch was working on starting his own management company. He's tried to use DOOM to get deals and shows, without DOOM's knowledge or permission. People have chased him out of the Def Jam offices for trying to snake them. All kinds of sh*t. Large Professor went up to a label looking for Serch too, and Serch ran out the back, lol.
I loved 3rd Bass. The Cactus Album was the second album I bought with my own money, as a kid. When they broke up, I supported both of their solos because I was always around the dudes who worked on the tracks for both. And even back then, the word has always been that Serch is a liar and can't be trusted. Now here we are, in damn near 2023, same story with dude. Sh*t is wild.
Math's podcast needs some work. It started off mad strong, and lately, it's kinda turned into a spot where people just go up there for drama or to lie. It used to be mad reputable. They need to fix that.
Just in the clips I've seen you can tell Mecca wanted to call bs on a few things but kinda just let it slide or vaguely pushed back. I agree that the show took a major step down in quality after the recently break up. Damn shame because the last classic moment was that Young Guru ep where he gave them so much praise. Only for shyt to fall apart weeks later smh.
Like I said he's a salesman. In an era where so many artists were deliberately getting fukked over by their labels (especially by Russell and Lyor), I'm not willing to call him the bad guy. He tried to get his own hustle going, sometimes he fukked up sometimes he did right by people. Overall him and Nas are still good. Dunno about OC.
Never heard the story about Serch and Large Pro lol.
