Halle Berry did nothing but supporting roles until she got Monster's Ball.
Hollywood tends to stick Black actresses in the same kinds of roles.
Paula does the Sapphire stereotype (loud, uncouth) well, so they kept hiring her for that. Specifically sex worker roles.
She was on the new American Gigolo show on Showtime playing a streetwalker.
You can't be too choosy because you got bills to pay.
