I don't respect that.

Things like that stand out as red flags to me. When a kid is messed up, the first thing I will do is look at the parents so it doesn't sit right when their port of call is to demonstrate that they did their job when dealing with the demise of their son.

I'm left with the impression that their image is and was always more important than what their son was going through.

this man had good parents and knew right from wrong. He chose to live that lifestyle.

I can't knock it. We need more preachers to start telling the truth at these funerals as well. :yeshrug:

I went to a funeral where the parents legit gave the preacher notes of what to say and permission to start preaching to us off script afterwards. He read basic stuff about the son and he abruptly stopped and said :

"That's it...that's all I got to say about him. Loved baseball, loved basketball and love running the streets. Every memory you have of him...hold on to it because you can't make new one with him. His parents worked hard, gave him the option to go to college...learn a trade or join the military. He chose none of the above and ran the streets with some of you out there and while he's laying here right now y'all won't be too far behind if you don't wake up. You are chasing pain, temporary status, fast money & incarceration while flirting with death. You don't wallow in the mud with pigs and come out clean. Just look around you right now...this is what you leave behind when you live that way... pain, hurt and sorrow. His parents placed $12000 aside for him to go to college not to bury him with! College!!!! But now look at where the money has went...to bury their child."

His tangent was way longer than that but all these years later and i can still remember that part of the funeral. He was the first person I ever heard say "hurt people hurt people". I remember he said "I'm not here to save him...it's too late for that! I'm here to save y'all. Don't leave here with the idea of doing this to someone else's child so they are in here going through the same pain. A bunch of hurt people hurting people"

just say he died and it's unfortunate and we love him, that's fine if they truly felt that way, but I wouldn't have aired it out in public, it's just tacky.

How do you know that?

This is what annoys me with society. The lack of critical thinking. You believe he had good parents because they made sure to get ahead of things and throw him under the bus.

This..

A lot of people actually believe providing for a child is being a good parent..

I've raised some kids and i can testify that providing for a kid is only 40% of the job.

Nurturing the kid mind is the single most important thing a parent can do.. Its critical and a every day job..

And even if you do that, shyt still can happen.. But you dramatically have the odds in your favor, if you pay attention to a childs mental development from birth..

Above the fray.
22-year-old man identified as victim killed in Harahan shooting Sunday night
The Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office has identified the man fatally shot in Harahan Sunday night as Robert Wells III, 22.

An autopsy determined Wells died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to Chief Death Investigator Mark Bone.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is assisting the Harahan Police Department with the homicide investigation.

Authorities received a report of a shooting about 7:45 p.m. in the 2100 block of Generes Drive in Harahan, according to Capt. Jason Rivarde, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.

Investigators arrived and found Wells fatally wounded inside a car that had crashed into a fence along the roadway, which is bordered by houses on one side and a drainage canal on the other.

Wells was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nah I can’t respect that. :unimpressed:

I had a cousin involved in street shyt and everybody in the family knew it. One day he got shot up and left for dead after leaving the barbershop. Luckily someone called the paramedics and he ended up surviving. But if he died and my aunt and uncle said some shyt like this in their obituary, everybody in the family would give them the:camby:

That's because your folks would be lyin there ass off if they said that.

Not all peoples families condone dumb shyt.

If your parents or siblings ain't with it, they ain't with it.

Just like the Uncle that made his nephew tell everyone on Facebook he wasn't a gangster and his family is better than that, only for his nephew to continue acting like a gangster then get killed.

If his folks say they wasn't fukking with him, then they wasn't fukking with him, they not lying to you to save face.

I understand if you don't want to respect it. This is the type of shyt that you respect and move on from. Send all the fake tears, cries, prayer walks, vigils, marches, and "why oh why did this happen to my baby", Facebook and social media posts, rip t shirts to the trash. Cause that's all that shyt is, is just trash. It ain't even about memorializing the killed, or justice it's about who can stunt the most or convince everyone they cared the most, when if they even cared a fraction of what they were acting that person would still be alive rather than killed over some stupid shyt.

Not only do I have to respect, I have to salute and find a way to donate. Cause rather than help someone pay for a funeral they can't afford this donation is actually going to back to the community and might help one of those kids not end up dead with their family saying ":manny: we told him, but he wanted to be cool"

I respect their choice, i don’t respect their execution, it’s no need to say all that to the public, you were better off saying nothing at all.
But the public needs to start hearing this..... Our community gotta stop actin like everybody that leaves were angels and start to kick the truth about these situations .......the family and those parents probably lost him long ago.
