Barbell is overall better than dumbbells. Any good trainer will tell you that.

this is true

its a myth that you are safer from pectoralis tears by using DBs, it happens there too

best bet is a mixture of both, with regular rotator cuff exercises and proper stretching

people forget that barbells its easier to move up 5lbs compared to 10lb increments in DBs(5 each side, at heavy weight you never seen 2.5 increments)

also dumbbell squats and deadlifts.... :usure:

We need to have a sticky stating:

"If you make bold claims, you're required to explain yourself"

Barbell vs dumbbell is situational as can be.

Lifting with the bar involves big compound movements which gives you the biggest results. I'm not saying dumb bells are bad but they are more isolation lifts to target one certain bodypart. I'm pretty sure most of the guys on here aren't professional bodybuilders so therefore they should stick to the basic lifts for maximum results.

Only reason to rep low and close to your max is to harden the muscle strengthen it and for density. If your trying to get bigger rep lower weight at the 10-12 rep range with little rest in between.

2 types of muscle growth myofibilar hyportrophy and sarcoplasmic hyporttrophy

not just that but to build an initial strength base

id like to think strength gains are similar to a logarithmic curve

and from personal experience hypertrophy(sarcoplasmic) only seem to shine if you already have a decent strength base

spliff already knows, im going to put you all to shame by the end of the summer once ive started bulking, MMSex gonna show you all about them light skin genetics
